Where can i buy a replacement spool - Garden

Two possibilities:

1. Buy a new spool. Make sure you bring your make and model/size to the store to get the correct replacement spool, or

2. Buy new line and manually wind it into the existing spool. Smaller lawn trimmers and edgers use smaller diameter line than larger lawn trimmers and edgers.

you buy spool of line and thread your self, you maybe able to buy the spool already has string on the spool, most are basic, the spool should have the direction you need to string it.unplug the trimmer, turn up side down, it have nut on it, unscrew it counter clock wise, than pull spool off restring the line for the weed eater, the string must be wound counter clock wise from the direction the weed eater or trimmer spins.

If the spool doesnt spin check the driveline for damage.

If you just have a broken drive cable you can replace or repair it.

If the drive cable is spinning but the connection to the spool is bad then you might look for a replacement spool.

The problem is that the cost of buying these parts is on par with about 40-50% of the cost of replacing the whole unit.

Hi you should buy new shredder because you will not get the plastic part easily and usually they do not be replace.

You can buy bulk cord of the correct size and re wrap the old spool. Or, go to walmart and buy pre-wrapped spools.

This model trimmer uses .095" diameter line, your local home improvement store will carry replacement line and it will also carry a replacement spool with the line already spooled on it.

This trimmer is a "bump advance" trimmer meaning you bump the head on the ground while it is spinning to advance line out.

What to do to replace the line is place the trimmer on a stable flat surface (like a workbench), raise up the head if the trimmer and unscrew the cap and CAREFULLY remove the spool...you do not want to lose the spring! Take a look at the spool, it will show the direction to spool the line, spool the line then replace the spool by first putting the spring back on the shaft, then put the end of the line through the hole(s) on the side of the outer head, press the spool in place and screw the cap back on.

Of course you can eliminate about 90% of the headaches by buying a pre-spooled head at your local home improvement store...then you follow the directions above and can skip the spooling part. Cheers!

There are a variety of sizes. Pull your spool off and where the notches are at the bottom ogf the spool are the sizes that your trimmer and spool can use. It'll read in decimals, like .050, .089, etc.

Welcome to FixYa. If you have a spool stand, that might work as long as you can thread the machine properly (give it a try!). When the thread is placed on the machine's spool pin, the spool cap keeps the thread in place and helps the thread unwind evenly - so if you are using a spool pin, you really do need a spool cap.

If the spool stand works, you are good to go. If you need to order replacement parts, I've provided a link the manufacturer's website. From there, you can contact customer support and find out if parts are available. If you can't order replacement parts, ask customer service if the machine is compatible with another brand. Another option would be to buy a spool pin and cap at a sewing machine dealer. Take the machine with you and and make sure the parts fit before you buy them.
