Hold down the input button and volume - while the MAIN POWER BUTTON IS OFF. Then turn on the main power button while those are held down, the light on the tv & avc box will turn green, then immediately let off the 2 buttons and press volume +. Next step is to repeat the process about 20-40 times & the TV WILL WORK!. I have read that this may have something to do with the energy star compliant commads that can changed through the serial port.

Thank you, psxpirate25!!!! It worked. I had to repeat it about 35 times. It came up in a factory setup firmware mode. I could see the video behind it. Pressing buttons on the remote only switched between the settings menus. I power cycled it a couple of times and had to do another 35 times. Finally it worked! Totally awesome!

Well, that was last night. Tonight, tried to turn it on with the remote and it is doing the same thing again. Tried the power button thing again, but it does not work this time. It worked for a few minutes, but as soon as I turned it off, it was lost. Seems like the control box is doing some kind of flaky firmware thing.

There sure are a lot of people having the same problem with their Sharp TV. I don't think I will ever buy another one again!!

  • AirmanB29 Aug 15, 2008

OK. Here seems to be a solution that is working now. Unplug both the
AVC and the panel (I used a power strip to make this easier by just
turning off the strip and back on again). With the AC removed, press
the "MAIN POWER" on. Next, press and hold the "VOL (--)" and "INPUT" at
the same time. Finally, plug the AC power back in and the set should come on.

After it came on, mine was in a factory test mode. I had to enable the
write mode (I think it writes to the PROM) and then selected the second
line down on the first menu (1 of 15 ) to have it do the restore or
    something.

Finally, my set came up with OPC enabled to auto and it seems to have a
sensor issue. At night, the monitor is unwatchable with such low light.
So, I turned on a bright light near the monitor and set that to
"Manual". so far, for two days and nights now it has been working
again. I hope this helps. Good luck! -Brad

I had the same problem with my lc-37hv4u and i changed the following board: Sharp Main Board KB453DE XB453WJ. If your a little handy you can do it yourselfand save $150.00 bucks. The only proble is trying to find a new board, which will cost about $300.00 or if you can search the net and find a used one for much less, but make sure they are willing to take it back if it doesn't work. good luck.

Display powers of with power up of AVC

how many blinks does the red light give in a row? This would be an error code?

The problem for 7 blinks would be an Interface board. Apparently there is a glitch in the interface board that sends signals to the television. Basically the glitch shorts out the board and the t.v wont turn on and you will see the power light blink 7 times pause then 7 more. You can replace the board with a new one and update the software on the new interface board.

If is isn't 7, let me know and I will help you out with this

thanks

If you are a DIY then once you pull back off you will see power supply board and there are caps that goes bad in these sets. They bulge out and sometimes explode. You tube has video on how to fix some sets, this is the same procedure

My Sharp XR-11XC Projector died not long ago with very few hours of use. The unit will not power up nor does it show any signs of trying to. No LED lights, no fans - nada. I tested the fuse and it's...

I opened mine up hit the red reset in the front and now all good. If ur red light is blinking make sure ur lamp compartment is shut properly, if not the red light will blink and unit won't turn on.

Sharp Aquous will not turn on.

I would check the System Cable that is linking the box to the TV. Then, press the small button called CLEAR in the front of the box. The button should be behind the flip cover on the front right below the PC input ports.
Let me know if this solution works.

Display powers of with power up of AVC

This is the problem with my LC-37HV4U. I plug in the AVC and the tv/monitor and I get both red power lights (not blinking) but no green lights, sound, or picture. I mean the tv screen stays black! It seems like their is no communication between the AVC and the monitor. I thought at least the screen would light up when the power light came on and being it has it's own power source. This tv is driving me nuts!! Can anyone please help?? Thank you.
