I called, Roland was not helpful. They want 141.50 for the music rest part number 22195635. I asked about some other parts and though I could just by the bottom channel and make my own upper plexiglas backing. Come to find out the music rest they sell in only the upper part, it does not attache to the piano. You have to buy the lower part separately for another $24.50. And them I'm not sure if that is the correct parts. The gal was not very nice and she could not show me any pictures or describe the part well enough to make sure it was what I needed. I asked to speak to a manager and it was her. I'm not very confident in Roland as a company. Is there any other way to find parts or used parts for this units. She told me to check e-bay. I've have been looking there and on Craig's List. No luck. I may have to take the chance and buy the lower part and hope it is what I need and manufacture a upper plexiglas part.

You need to replace the battery. It will most likely be a coin sized battery in a slip in holder on the main board. If you need help, here is ROland Customer Service contact info-

After that, you can reset the E96 back to the factory settings by following the directions here-

I have a Roland HP 2e digital piano - Foot pedal problem

The ROLAND pianos USUALLY require that you use a normally closed sustain pedal.

MANY pedals are the opposite and close when pressed. SOMETIMES you can open the pedal and reverse the way the switch works.

I need a service manual for Roland FP8 piano, or..

Did you ever get hold of an FP-8 service manual? The weight replacement is relatively simple: The case opens by removal of eight screws, four at each end on the underside. The top then hinges up. Keyboard assembly is removed by first unplugging the two white ribbon connectors at the center, then removing the screws at the front edge (underneath) and the screws (gold) at the back of the assembly (accessible from the top). Keys pop out by spreading the two "wings" at the pivot point, and then the weights (Roland calls them "hammers") lift out. Roland will sell you new ones, but I have no idea whether the replacements are any better than the originals. I've done two of these pianos so far, and have a third waiting to be worked on. I do have a service manual, but I think I downloaded it freebee somewhere.
The other failure mode on this piano is the electolytic coupling caps on the output board - I've replaced all of them on both pianos - don't remember the value offhand.

What type of sustain pedal Roland EP-90 digital piano is using - open or closed at rest?

CLOSED is typical for Roland pianos when at rest. (open to sustain).

Note that the jack PROBABLY has a grounding contact so when no pedal is used/plugged in, the jack is shorted at the piano.

Have a HP 1700 Roland Digital Piano that has one key (first G to the right of middle C key) that is off.

It sounds as if the membrane under the key needs to be replaced. It can be done with some careful work yourself but you might want to consider having it serviced by a Roland dealer as apparently the parts are becoming scarce. Hope this helps.
