Hitachi broken lenticular

I have a hitachi 50UX22B. Its a old projection TV. Still works good. My problem is the out protective screen. I think is call the LENTICULAR. Its a hard plastic greyish in color. I have been searching for months. I decided to call local repar shop in our area, with no success. Do you have or any one have any idea where to get a lenticular? It's going to be a waste of a good tv set if I don't find this part.

Its there any cheaper one. $870 is to much of a 15 year old TV. You can buy a 40 inch LCD with that price.

Any other solution to my problem that much cheaper.

Thanks anyway for the solution, Draude.

Where do I get a new hitachi tv screen because mine has a crack in it?

Your best bet is to check with local repair shops and see if they may have a used one as these screens are rather expensive. These screens are actually lenses. Also they are two, sometimes three layers thick. The two layer screen is composed of a Lenticular (outside) and Fresnel (inside) lense. The third layer sometimes used is in front of both of these and is a protective screen. You can live without this one if necessary.

I need both panels of the screen for a Hitachi 55VS69A. I don't really want to pay that much if possible.

You can find a new OEM Hitachi replacement lenticular screen and Fresnal screen (availble together as the screen assembly) for a model # 55VS69A from a major Hitachi distributor at the following links:

Broken lenticular screen

I have been looking around for one myself. And have actually resorted to calling all of the "Mom&Pop" repair shops in town to see if they have one in the backroom or something. The problem is that most of the finds you get for lenticular on the web have to do with advertising signs and baseball cards. These lenticular sheets are only similar in how they feel to the touch. The lenticular lense on a rear projection tv actually blocks the image behind it and diffuses the light at specific angles. It is also very likely the specific manufacturers used slightly different pitches in the viewing angle, so that you have to replace it with their screen. I will definately continue to watch this posting because I need one as well.
