Question about Sharp UX 300 Plain Paper Thermal transfer Fax

1 Answer

Material I'm trying to send doesn't 'feed'

Hi!

I'm trying to send a fax. The UX 300 signifies that it is "Ready to Send" after I've loaded the three sheets I'm attempting to send. When I dial the number and push the Start/Memory button (the lower section), the screen indicates that it is "Sending" - however, no paper feeds through. Eventually I get a beep from the machine, but no fax has been sent.

Please help!

This was an incredibly thorough response. Unfortunately, the problem turned out to be incredibly simple: the machine, although visually appearing to be plugged into a telephone line, did not get a dial tone!

So, my apologies to all who assisted. I still haven't figured out how to make the phone connection work - but it turned out to be easier to go to a nearby Mail Stop and fax what needed to be faxed through them!

Does it try to grab the paper?
do you hear anything happening before the beep?

The machine recognises that there is paper, then you should hear the communication, once it has the correct signal telling it the line is available for transmission it will feed the paper.

look at the tires and see if they turn to feed the paper, is there something in the way, do the tires turn,???

if yes clean with alcohol and try again, if the tires are too smooth then they need to be changed.

Copy from computer to Sharp ux300

The UX-300 is a fax/copier. It can send and receive faxes over a telephone line and it can make copies of paper documents. It is not designed to connect to a computer.
If you need a manual you may download a copy at

Paper won't feed through to send

I would suggest taking a soapy type cleaner such as fantastic and cleanign all the rollers in the scanner.
Sounds like they are slipping. May have to clean them a few times to get all the contaminants off.
Sounds to me like thats your problem.
The rollers may be worn. But try cleaning them thorouly.
