Question about EliteGroup P4M800PRO-M Motherboard

1 Answer

Upgrading the p4m900T-M2 mobo from P4 3.2Mhz to E8200 2.66Mhz

At first I got a message "A 333MHz system bus processor is installed. The processor is not supported on this system board and will run at reduced processor clock speed. System performance will be impacted."

It booted only to show that message - but no further. I got the bright idea to change the overclock speed from 266 to 333. Then it would only turn on and do nothing else - not even a message. I put the original P4 processor back in, and tried it again but got the same message.

I then read the manual and it stated to turn off the power, and hold the Page Up key while powering on to reset the overclocking if it had failed. I did that, it made some sounds, and then I smelled something (like electronics burning up), and now it won't even power on.

I'm guessing I need to buy another mobo. So my real questions are:
1 - Is there anyway to possibly salvage the P4 processor and P4M900T-M2?
2 - If I get a new mobo, what mobo do you recommend?
*Note: I'd like to reuse my memory ddr2 if possible (I think it's 2 x 2GB ). I have a 500W PS. I have a 1GB ATI Radeon 4850 palit video card using pcExpress.

You can`t use xp drivers for windows 7, it does not work that way.
This mainboard is from the year 2002, and you probably can`t find any drivers for windows 7.
The mainboard is too old, for the windows system.
Continue using windows xp, or buy a new mainboard or pc.

Good luck

53mhz system bus processor is installed this processor is not supported on this desktop board and will run at reduced processor clock speed system performance will be impacted intel r pentium iv processor...

Determine the manufacturer and model number of the system board. Locate the system board manufacturer's website. Check for a list of supported processors for your system board. If it is on the list, you may need only to update the system board firmware. If you have questions about the suitability of the processor / system board combination - contact the system board manufacturer's tech support group or technical forums that they may be operating on the site.

Do not attempt to apply a firmware update file to any system board for which it is not intended! Doing so can cause irreparable harm to the system board.

I good luck!

I want to know that shall i put pentium 4/ 2.4 Ghz/ 533 Fsb/ Processor on this Gigabyte 845GVM-RZ board? will it support ?and i have 1 Gb ddr1 400 mhz ram will this work on this Board?

Yes for the Intel Pentium 4/2.4GHz/533FSB processor. (Socket 478)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_4_microprocessors#Northwood_.28130.C2.A0nm.29

(Scroll through. What sSpec number is on top of the processor's case? {You are following Anti-Static Precautions, correct? }

Won't support better than a Prescott Core Pentium 4. (Next chart down)

The Gigabyte GA-8I ((Supports 400MHz or 533MHz FSB)

NO to the Ram Memory.
The Gigabyte GA-8I845GVM-RZ supports DDR Sdram at 333Mhz. (PC2700)
IMHO it will not support DDR Sdram at 400MHz. (PC3200)

My reasoning is this;

Ram Memory typically operates at half of the FSB frequency rate of the Processor.

Processor FSB > MAXIMUM frequency rate is 533MegaHertz for the GA-8I845GVM-RZ
Ram memory at 333MHz is doable.
Not 400MHz.

No, you won't be able to overclock, and bring the FSB of the Processor high enough for PC3200 Ram Memory.
(The rest of the motherboard wouldn't work anyway if you did. PCI Express bus, PCI bus, etc., would not match)

How do i change the memory bus speed on my dell optiplex 170l? The CPU is an Intel Celeron 2.4GHz. The mother board processor speed is 400MHz and the Bios indicates a memory bus speed of 266MHz and does...

You checked in the right place as far as looking in the BIOS, however, memory and CPU sockets do not necessarily have the same buss speed. My FSB runs at 1066Mhz and my RAM at 800Mhz, it all depends on what type of RAM you buy as to the bus speed. You can up the bus speed on your RAM if you wish to reduce bottle-necking, but I've only done that a few times. In order to adjust anything, you must set the settings to manual. Be careful when you change this stuff around though, voltages must also be adjusted accordingly.

Will the D915GEV support window7

Yes: Windows 7 can be used with this board.

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Here's the specs on the D915GEV
(See PDF Manual)
D915GEV Technical Product Specification [PDF]

The Intel 915G chipset consists of the following devices:
• Intel 82915G Graphics Memory Controller Hub (MCH) with Direct Media Interface (DMI) interconnect
• Intel 82801FB I/O Controller Hub (ICH6) with DMI interconnect
• Firmware Hub (FWH)
The MCH is a centralized controller for the system bus, the memory bus, the PCI Express bus, and the DMI interconnect. The ICH6 is a centralized controller for the board’s I/O paths. The FWH
provides the nonvolatile storage of the BIOS.

Supported Memory Configurations.
Up to : • 4 GB maximum total system memory.

Processor:
The board is designed to support Intel Pentium 4 processors in an LGA775 processor socket with an 800 or 533 MHz system bus.

Note: All processors available for this board are in excess of the 1 gigahertz (GHz) minimum requirement for Windows 7. (see here) http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d915gev/sb/CS-026957.htm

If you found this information helpful, please give me a big thumbs up when you rate my answer. Thanks.

yes, it is possible, but the Front side bus will limit the functionality so much that it wouldn't be worth it.

Installed PNY 512 DDR PC2700 Optima memory, recommended by Staples. on to Toshiba P35 S609. System doesn't indicate that memory has increased. Type "chkdisk" into "run" message says doesn't recognize...

First of all it is good practice to have equal brand/model/specs memory boards when installed few of them. Also, you did not mention the bus speed of your PNY DDR, for P35 it should be 333MHz, so at least makesure both or DDR boards there have same speed 333 or else it won't work.

RAM running slowly

hi there
this is very interting you are asking for fsb to adjest at 333mhz.
for this first you have to look your prosser fsb , *********** board fsb and your ram fsb.
fsb is a front side bus on which data ia is running at speed but for high speed you have to increase your fsb you are askin (ie:333mhz). itell you how?
example : your prosser fsb is 266mhz
your ram fsb is 400mhz as you told
*********** board fsb is 333mhz

now you system fsb is constant on 266 mhz because system on that fsb witch supporting by ram prosser and mobo( motherboard).
if you want to increase the fsb you have to buy mobo, ram,and prosser at same fsb.

Upgraded cpu- wont boot

Teresa, if you changed the front side bus to 533, your memory must have the same clock speed. Memory clock speeds are what is known as "backwards compatible" but not forwards. This means that you could put a piece of memory of a clock speed of 400mhz into a system that runs at 333mhz and it will "downclock" the memory, but you could not put a piece of 333mhz memory in a 400mhz fsb pc and expect it to run. one of two things will happen, the system will not boot at all or the syetm will downclock the processor to a slower speed. In your case your cpu must be 533mhz clock speed with pc4200/533mhz memory to function correctly.
