Make sure that your windows OS has all the latest updates. Then check for updates from peachtree

User logon error for 2004


From quoted information from Peachtree's KB system:
Go to Task Manager by pressing the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys and on the Processes tab look for W32MKDE.EXE, click to highlight and choose End Task. If W32MKDE.EXE is not shown, close Task Manager.

Go to Start, Find or Search for conn*.* Be sure you are searching the DATAPATH for these files.

Select all connco and conndp files from your datapath and choose delete.

Since you are using Peachtree First R2004, you will then need to go to Start, Run, and type in PFA110.INI and hit enter. This will open it in Notepad.

Scroll down to the [Options] section and look for the line ShowStartup=No, change this to read ShowStartup=Yes.

Look for the line LastCompanyOpen=[company name] where [company name] would be your last company opened company name. Delete the FULL company name after the equal sign.

Look for the line LastCompanyOpenShort=[company short name] where [company short name] would be your last company opened Folder Name. Delete the company folder name after the equal sign.

Select File from the menu bar and choose Save. Close the ini file.

Open Peachtree and select one of the sample companies. After the sample company opens, select File, Open Company and open your company data.

How To Run Data Verification In Peachtree Accounting


<p>Data Verification is a Peachtree utility that allows you to verify if any of your data files are missing or possibly damaged. During the verification process, Peachtree makes any needed changes so that your data records are compatible with Peachtree data formats. For example, if an ID in a data record has more than the maximum allowable characters, Peachtree will truncate the ID. Also, any files that Peachtree finds to be corrupt and unusable are deleted during the verification process. <br /> Following verification, Peachtree generates a log that details all errors encountered and reports on any changes made, as well as any corrupt records deleted. Follow these steps to run the test:<br /> <ol> <li>In your company, from the <b>Tasks</b> menu select <b>System</b>, <b>Change Accounting Period</b>.</li> <li>Highlight the first <b>Accounting Period</b> on the list and click <b>OK.</b></li> <li>From the <b>File</b> menu, select <b>Data Verification</b>.</li> <li>Select the <b>Both Tests</b> (recommended) option from the menu and click <b>Start</b>. <br /></li> <li>You will be prompted to make a <b>backup</b> of your Peachtree data. This is a required step. Click <b>Save</b>. The data verification test will begin automatically when the backup is complete.</li> <li>If no errors were found, click <b>Close</b>. If errors were found, you can examine the details of the tests by clicking the <b>View Error Log</b> button.</li> <li>To change back to the current Accounting Period follow steps 1 and 2 above.</li></ol>

I am denied access to change the accounting period in peachtree


I've seen this before with peachtree. What happens every time you work on an accounting file peachtree locks the contents of the file. Occasionally the software never gets the chance to unlock it. This can happen if the computer shuts down unexpectedly, a file gets corrupted etc. You should find in your installation depending on the version a scan utility that can scan your accounting main file and see if there are problems and correct them. If not next try a re-install of peachtree and run the updates and try opening the file. Finally if not it is time to restore an update you have prior to the problem.

I have peachtree and cannot change acctg period


I HAVE PEACHTREE. SOMEHOW OVER THE WEEKEND OR AT SOME POINT OUR ACCOUNTING PERIODS HAVE GOT OFF TRACK.
I NEED TO CHANGE OR EDIT THESE TO MAKE OUR DATES RIGHT.
CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO CHANGE. WE ONLY HAVE
1 YEAR OPEN WHICH IS 2010.

Hi beulah_jane,

What version of Simply Accounting are you using? 2007? 2008? 2009? Using Windows XP or Vista? Are the Simply files stored locally on the C drive or on a network? Can you open a sample company or are you getting the same error?

If you're trying to open the file using a shortcut to the data file itself, try using the Simply Accounting Program shortcut and then opening your file. If you're getting an encountered an error message, try searching through our knowledgebase.
