Re: i cant scan a document in my computer
During a normal installation of the HP All-in-One software, the following events occur:
1. The HP All-in-One software CD-ROM runs automatically. 2. The software installs. 3. Files are copied to your computer. 4. You are requested to connect the HP All-in-One to your computer. 5. A green OK and check mark appear on an installation wizard screen. 6. You are requested to restart your computer. 7. The Fax Setup Wizard (Windows) or Fax Setup Utility (Mac) runs. 8. The registration process runs. If any of these things did not occur, there is most likely to be a problem with the installation. If the essential icons (Scan Picture, Scan Document, and Send a Fax) do not appear, your installation might not be complete. If your installation is incomplete, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall the software. Do not simply delete the HP All-in-One program files from your hard drive. Make sure to remove them properly using the uninstall utility provided in the HP All-in-One program group.

If you are scanning documents to edit or save as PDF file, you will need to install the OCR scan software on your computer. The Lexmark OCR scan software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you lost the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request for one. If scanning from your printer to your computer was working previously, then it could be just a slight communication problem. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected) > reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to scan again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection (if USB connected). If printer is connected wireless, wait until the WiFi light on the printer turns on solid green before trying to scan a document.
Please clarify a few things for me so I can help you solve this issue.
Are you trying to scan from the printer to the computer? (pushing the scan command on the printers keypad to send the signal to the computer)
Are you trying to scan from the computer to the printer? (Using the scan options in your software by choosing "start" and then "programs" and opening your printers software to choose the scan option)
If your scanning from printer to computer (using the printers scan option on the keypad) and your getting an error code, chances are the problem is you have not set up your defaults in the printers menu yet. To scan from printer to computer, the printer needs to know which program you want your document to scan to in your computer. If its a text document, some people choose "Microsoft Word" and the scan fuction sends your item to that program and opens it for viewing on your computer screen.
There are different programs to use for each type of fax that need to be set up in advance in your printer to be able to scan from printer to computer. Send pictures to a photo editing software and choose the size and resolution you want as "default". Do the same for setting up text documents before you try and use this feature to eliminate the error code.
To configure your options to scan from printer to pc, push the "menu" button on your printer and use the up and down arrows on the printers keypad to move through the choices. Find the command similar to "scan options" and follow the prompts to set the defaults on handling text documents and pictures and then save your choices by pushing the "ok" button on the printers keypad.
Try scanning again with your computer turned on and open to the desktop. Push the scan button on the printer and see if it sends the image or document to your computer screen. It should warm up, then scan and show a preview on your screen for you to accept or reject. If this does not happen, please asnwer my questions as listed above and clarify what you see so I can help solve this issue right now.
how do you scan your document are you using the buttons on the printer or are you using the computer and the home center software?
If your using the printer buttons I strongly suggest use the computer and its software the home center. Now if still not scanning and it takes time to scan. restart the computer and while the computer is restarting unplug the power cable of the printer., then do again the scanning if yur computer is ready.
If the troubleshooting did not solve it means the software or the home center is having a problem call kodak for assistance for the software toll free 1 800 421 6699., GudlucK
This sort of thing can be down to the fact the settings for communication to the printer is separate for printing/faxing/scanning. So you will need to find the scanning device (will usually be called HP3050 regardless, or something along the lines of that) and make sure it's set to communicate through USB and no other means.
