Are the contacts on the card clean? Try wiping them with a cloth.

Connecting the camera to a different system wouldn't cause your problem. However, when you disconnect, you need to use the "remove hardware" command or the "eject" command on a Mac. Just pulling the plug can corrupt the card and the camera. Also, the card works best if formatted in the camera, not a computer. In fact, some cards won't work at all when formatted on a computer.

That wasn't the issue.
I have found a solution for the moment - I reformatted the cards via computer, then took a random pic, then deleted all frames, on each card
It still takes an exorbitantly long time to save the picture, but it does seem to be working now
I do have a question - is there any chance connecting the camera too a non-windows operating system could have contributed to this?
