VCMA-15 Have a catch pan overflow switch which goes in series with the thermostat circuit, but there are two low voltage wires coming from the pump and these have been connected together since installation...

You should have it wired in series with the wire on the 'R' terminal of the control board to the thermostat. Usually the red wire. This will shut down the complete system if the pump fails. The pan switch should be wired this way also, so they can both be in series with each other.

How do I wire the safety overflow switch to my furnace humidifier thermostat? I have a Little giant VCMA-20ULT and a Aprilaire 700.

The overflow switch needs to be wired in a manner that interrupts the HOT (black?) side of the wires going to the water inlet valve or it's circuit.

Thank you for posting your question here on

Replace the check valve that is part if the discharge hose barb. When it fails the water trapped in the vertical section of the tube comes back into the tank and cycles the float on again causing what you describe. The best way to confirm this would be to watch the water level as soon as the pump shuts off and see if it climbs without any other source of water coming into it. If it is not rising then the issue is with the float itself and is not worth fixing; replace the unit in that case.

My old pump has the brown and blue wires connected

first do not change the factory wiring, what voltage is the pump wired for, what voltage is supplied to the pump.

then we figure out the rest
also what do the instructions say about the pump

NO stands for normally open contact-which means during operation is open which means off.
