Hanns.g hx191d only green led flickering but no display graphics

Dear all,

I have seen user Eternalsoil has had a similar problem to mine and thus i wanted to try if he or anyone else can help me with this problem.

My mionitor hx191d just lighten the green led when i start it. The green led turns on and off and the screen makes some kind of splash every 3 or 4 seconds, but it's always black.

Please, if you eternalsoil could tell me what did you do that solved your problem i would be 'eternal'ly appreciated..jeje!

Thanks in advance,

Joe

    Hello again,
I have dissassembled the two boards and while in the processor board there aren't any apparently damaged capacitors, on the power supply board there are 2 of them which have chemical at the top.
They are c263 with 470uf-25v and another one which name i can not see due to the glue with 470uf-10v.

One remark: The other three capacitors which don't have chemical, have their head a little bit inflated.
I mean that perhaps it would be better to replace the 5 capacitors although only 2 of them have chemical on their top. (however i think i'd better not touch that board too much because of my inexperience)

I have taken photographs but i can't post them here.

What should i do know? I do have a solder machine and also have tin. May i use tin in order to weld the new capacitors?or should i use another material more suitable?
The capacitor 470uf-10v is stuck with glue rubbery to another r241 resistance. What should i use to remove such glue in order to replace that capacitor in proper conditions?

    I will appreciate your comments.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Joe

Hello Joe,

Your monitor has a power supply that is going out. if you can solder you should be able to do the repair yourself, it involves replacing a few parts but its not that hard to do. Go to our web site at: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm and look at the pictures and repair guides. Open your monitor and replace any capacitors that look like the ones in the pictures and you should be back going. We have a repair guide for the HW173 monitor that should be very close to your model.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

    Hello Joe,

Yes, The best thing would be to replace all 5 of the capacitors while you are in the monitor so you don't have to reopen it in a month or two. The glue on the capacitors should just pull off if you use a little bit of pressure. You will need to use electronic solder to reinstall the new caps on the board. If you don't have the right solder you can get it from the same place you get the replacement capacitors. Be sure to get replacements that are rated for high heat usually marked 105c. Stores like Radio Shack don't carry the right ratings and they will quickly blow out again. We carry the propper ones in stock as well as several other places on the internet if you can't get the locally. When you are installing the new ones be sure to insert them with the stripe on the side going the same way as the old ones stripe. If you have any more questions just let me know.

Hanns g hx191d no picture. My monitor went black while I was working, the green led is lit, I get a picture for a split second when I first turn on the computer or monitor.

Hello,

The most common cause of this type of display issues is a failure of the back light power supply. There are parts called capacitors that fail and this causes the power supply to not be able to put out the correct voltages to operate the monitor. You cn repair the monitor easily by replacing the bad capacitors on the power supply board. The old ones need to re desoldered and the new ones soldered back in place. You can get a kit of the proper capacitors to do the repair here:

Monitor gets signal from computer but doesn't display. Monitor will display message that says no signal when unhooked from computer but will not display menu

Sound like it could be corrupted video driver. I would try holding down the F2 key to reach the system bios. Select vga for the video display if in the bios...then save and restart. If you can't get to the bios screen, try F8 and see if you can get safe mode...if so...it should allow pc to use the vga driver and thus hopefully display will work. If you get in and see windows, then you most likely ned to remove the display driver and reinstall it.

If still not working, try hooking monitor to another video port. Might need to get a conversion adapter to fit to vga port, or dvi port or whatever else you might see.

Flashing green led on my hanns-g HX191D

Try it on another PC fIrst.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Common problems on monitors are due to capacitors in the power supply/inverter circuits failed, you need to open it up and look inside for caps with bulging top/seal first and post back what you see so we can guide you further, see failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Hanns-g 19" HX191d monitor blank screen. Power led is intermittent flashing green. Does not show 'no signal' when powered up alone. Has this monitor died or is there a way to fix it?

Hello,

This type of issues is caused by parts called capacitors that have failed and are keeping the power supply from starting up correctly. You can rebuild the power supply board by replacing the bad capacitors and this will bring the monitor back to full working order. Here is a link to information showing what parts need to be replaced with pictures and parts list.
