1 - You may need to roll back system with System Restore. Under Safe Mode (press F8 during boot and choose safe mode). Win 7 - Start > Search type System Restore XP - Is Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.
2 - Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.
It is a pain.
Try the following. Re-run install, insert CD and it should start to load?
The exception is it should come up and say do you wish to uninstall Blah blah . Click Yes. When finished it will want to restart.
Before restart, remove usb webcam. restart.
Go to my poota/programs/and look for the camera file/ it may have been removed in that no problem/ if file is still there/right click/remove. Restart.
Complete restart/then setup CD Webcam again. Sit with it click Ok when asked even not a recognized prog, still click continue.
After completion. Reinsert usb of webcam! wait till it loads, asking silly Q, continue. till finish.
If sucessful, find it in programs if you didn't click for desktop icon?
Startup screen should show small white screen, couple of Q's it can't do something, ignore. You will end up with blank white/black square.
Click menu at top, click devices, dropdown click your cam name, should then open to a larger screen. If you need to alter things, click options.
All this of course if it loads.

try putting in the original install disk and do a repair or restore. The notebook should have also come with some diagnostic software. If not, contact Apple and have them hook you up. He can always use the computer at the library..... good luck!

Could be a simple video driver problem, try starting up your laptop in safe mode (Pressing F8 on boot up).
If and when screen comes up highlight 'Start Windows in Safe Mode'
Next a list of startup drivers etc will stream down the screen and tell you you are starting in safe mode, allow this.
If your lcd screen stays on then it's a driver problem, go to add/remove programmes and uninstall driver the driver and restart your laptop.
This should then start in VGA mode all icons will be bigger than normal.
Either re-install video drivers from setup/restore disk or go to laptops manufacturer website to download drivers.
If no screen even in safe mode LCD probably dead.
Please rate solution.
