Question about Carrier BCA101R Air Conditioner

1 Answer

I have been told my AC is leaking condensation from the connector piping in the condenser to the air exchanger. There is supposed to be ''dampness in the walls.'' I've also been told the unit is too old. I'm not sure either is true. Can someone recommend a checking of this situation? The AC unit is in a condo in Florida (Delray Beach). Thanks.

I have a lot of water build up in my Vanee air exchanger. What is causing this?

Condensation within the pipes (not the unit) causes both the ice (in cold weather) and the water collection.
See the video below for an Air exchanger that solves home humidity/moisture issues
Even with that, condensation in the PIPES is not necessarily resolved.

The air pipes should be set (angled) to allow any condensation to drain out of the system. Wrapping the air pipes in insulation may solve some of the issue (this did for my external condensation issues). You may need to re-set the pipes angles or install an addiitonal drain.

Last year I got my ac refilled with r 134 and it all leaked out in a day. My mechanic told me that I needed a new condenser. I changed the condenser and the lines myself. Now I don't know if I should

The system has to be evacuated and recharged you didn't say what type of car but this has to be done on all 134 leaks faster then r 12 as a thinner gas

Not a furnace guy but I do know that your drain should be insulated. Gotta figure out if it's water from the drain leaking or actual condensation dripping from the outside. If sweat, it needs insulated. Good Luck.

Where are the drains in my 2000 beetle ? I have a puddle of water under passenger seat !

Drill a 3/8 th hole through the floor at the lowest point then look for the water leak ,is the AC drain pipe clear as this is the most obvious point of entry and the AC condensate will run into car if this pipe is blocked

Toyota Corolla 1995. Quality of air conditioner reduced when stopped (traffic light) or moving at slow speed (condenced city traffic) No problem on the highway. Checked freon gas and fan. Understand that...

Normal, the ac heat exchanger condenser need air moving across the fins to remove the heat. While moving in town the condenser isn't remove the meat that is building up the it's aluminum fins. Even though the vehicle uses an electric fan. The fan is used to cool the engine temperature. If you Toyota is equip-ed with automatic transmission. The electric fan will need to pull enough air to cool the engine temperature, automatic transmission fluid, air conditioner condenser, and maybe power steering condenser to cool the power steering fluid. Later model of vehicles/trucks are using different refrigerants instead R134A in which you Toyota uses.

The simples way to explain is the ac remove heat from inside your Toyota and this heat is removed by the refrigerants inside your ac in the car. To cool the refrigerant this coolant is removed to the heat exchanger condenser located in front of the engine radiator. So, while moving at 60mph there is enough air flow through the radiator, ac head condenser, and other aluminum heat exchangers. GB...stewbison

My frigidaire air conditioner is spitting water out the side and the drain hole is clear is there a secondary drain hole?

The tray that holds the condensed water from the evaporator
may be clogged, it may be clogged before the cleanout hole,
where the tray joins the pvc, if this is the case you may have to
power down your ac unit, there is a panel on your heater unit
that you will have to access to expose the evaporator coils and
you will see the tray where the condensation builds up and flows
thru a pvc pipe to go outside. also make sure that the pipe going
outside is at a slope so that the condensation can flow and not
clog the pipe. make sure that water can flow from the tray thru
the cleanout hole. once you correct the problem. you need to reseal all the seams with duct tape or metalic tape, you can purchase at most hardware stores, to make sure their are no ac
cool air leaks other than thru your ac vents. good luck!

Radiator fluid is leaking by firewall when the a/c is on. It isn't condensation. Can't find a hose leaking. Envo has front and rear air. It is when the front air is on.

HMMM thinking out aloud here ,you sure its not condensation running down from the low pressure pipe on the AC ,,,, touch it with your finger and see if tastes sweet if so its antifreeze ,and the only cause of this that i think of is the shut off valve ,so when ac is on the valve closes and its leaking ,when ac is off the valve is open and its not leaking ,stop gap measure for rest of summer is to put two brake pipe clamps on the heater hoses

Use compressed air to unclog the exit of the drain piping .Done in half second withour disassemblying anything.
I was told by a mechanic that this problem is very common with all Mitsubishi models.

Water tank is suddenly filling up

look closely how the water flows from the evaporator to the tank. does it goes first to the condenser ?..or is there a heating pipe that is touching the tank in order to heat the water for it to evaporate?

here's the set up, your ac would cool and absorb moisture in the air and becomes water in the evaporator. these water is sometimes used to cool the compressor or the condenser to help it run cooler and at the same time evaporates the un-needed water . but incase the water is so much then you have the tank to keep the water from spilling. sometimes they still put some hot pipes to further heat the water to evaporate.

check those pointers that i have mention.

in some case, the air in your place just got humid and wet that is why it has too many water condensation..

Leaking air conditioner unit

I suppose that the water is coming from the unit where the blower motor is. Condensation is created by the evaporator coil while its running and is suppose to drain into a pan under it and through a pipe to the outside. This pipe could be stopped up. The easiest way to fix that is to blow air through the pipe from the outside. It probably comes out close to the outside unit. It could be that your inside filter is dirty causing reduced air flow and making the evaporator freeze too. Change the filter. That may help. There are other steps that you could take if these don't help. Contact me by email if you need to. Cant run over there because I'm in Missouri but may be able to help in a chat room. kstfas@yahoo.com
