The whole colling speed is set properly within the computer so I wouldn't go adjusting that. You could get a different fan similar to the one thats in it, that may be a bit quiter.

Take it to the computer shop and show him them one you thats in it, that is on condition that you are confident about taking it out and putting on a new one in its place.

Make sure you are grounded when you open the computer and wear an ESD (Electo Static Discharge) strap or something. Especially when you are going near the motherboard.

Asus motherboard a8v-vm jumper setting motherbord on but cpu fan not ON

You do not use a jumper to run the CPU fan. There will be a small 3 or 4 pin plug near the CPU mount and you can plug the wire from the fan into that plug only. If the one on the motherboard has 3 pins and your plug has 4, you can use it anyway; just be sure the slot on the back of the plug matches the side of the one on the board.

To turn your computer off, hold the power button in for 6 to 8 seconds. I would disconnect the fans you installed to see if you are loading your power supply. If you install a video card take it out and in a couple time to clean the contact, with the power off.

Asus a8v-vm se fans always run

Hi jderek4, try this. locate the toggle switch on the back of the power supply. Just find it do not flip it.
Plug the PSU's power cord into the PC. Just as you got a good connection & the PC begains to power up move the toggle switch to it's other position. The PC should power off that very second.
If the PC does not shut off than the PSU is bad. If it did shut down wait a few seconds. Press the cases power on button. The PC should start to boot up. Let it finish loading. Click the start button & choose to shut down windows. The PC should shut off.
Yes? If not than your back to (bad power supply). Swap it out.

CPU fan races

thanks bigunit12 - as I suspected, no real concern

expect the noise is a pain.

I do think the HS might be marginal and so I shall replace sometime with a higher capacity model, also maybe increase fan flow capacity and add a case hot air extractor fan.

Just to make sure
