Question about GE JVM1860 Microwave Oven
My problem is it stop working when I returned from a 3 day absence and saw the Microwave door (light) had been left open, i closed the door and the entire touch contol panel display went out and never returned. I verifier the usual, breaker, power surge (unplug and replug power cord) but no result.
I Have no blue print of the interior of this oven and don't know where to start. Fuse location? testing 120V primary and secondary power?
If and when i get good at this i also have another question concerning the over the range lamp that stop working 2 years ago. (not the buld, i'v tryed that).
I had Camco, repare man come and change what i found out later to be the thermostat, and that cost me 215$ for a 40min visit. Not again.
Please remember I am attempting to diagnose your appliance without being there and with little information.
Your fuse is located on the panel that's behind you touch pad. If you remove the case, looking from the front, at the top left corner of the panel behind the touch pad. You will see your fuse there. It looks like one of the old car fuses but instead of glass, it is white. (Porcaline) This is a 20 amp micro wave fuse that you can pickup at any appliance parts store. You stated that when you closed the door the units control pad went out. If it killed all power, I suggest that you replace the light bulb inside the unit also. I have seen this before. This is what happens. When you closed the door it brakes the filament inside the bulb a split second before the door switch opens to turn the bulb off therefore burning the fuse. If I'm correct and you don't replace the bulb, you will blow your new fuse when you plug the unit in. Take it out and inspect it, make sure the filament is not broken. I hope this helps.

If one of the door interlock switches
is not switching properly or there is a condensation problem on the
sensor control panel, either can cause the turntable/light/oven to
come on even though the "Starts" button has not been
depressed due to the wiring of the switches.
Check for faulty door switches and/or contaminated actuators.
I hope that helps.
