Question about Maytag MDE2600 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

My Maytag dryer was moved from a 3rd floor apartment down to the 1st floor. Dryer was fine before the move. Now dryer is not getting hot and it takes about 4 hours to get 1 load of clothes completely dry. What do you think the problem could be?

The problem is most likely the vent pipe that it is now attached to. The vent pipe both inside of the dryer and all the way to outdoors must be checked and cleaned. Also, make sure the vent pipe isn't kinked, or having more than two turns in it.

Smell rubber

i have found that when people start smelling things in the dryer it's from chemicals from like paint or varnish, all the dryer does is move air when it gets hot you start smelling it.you can pull it apart and check the belt and rollers but your dryer has the lint filter on top and there isn't anything in there that could really make it smell,on some of these dryers the belt pulley doesn't have a wheel on it,the pulley is just a piece of metal with no moving parts and the belt rubs on the pulley but i've never smelt anything from that, like i say usually it's from having your floors done over the smell from the polyurethane coating or from paint can make the dryer smell.go here to take dryer apart

Dryer won't start

Either one or 2 things happened. The move cause the lint to shift around inside the dryer and it overheated blowing the fuse. OR the new apartment's vent is blocked and caused the dryer to overheat. All maytag dryers are not the same but they all have a non resetable fuse mounted on the blower housing. When the temp exceeds 350f it melts and kills power to the motor. If the motor is not running the heat does not get power. The motor must be turning to make the cent switch power up the heater. Dryer manuals

How do i get dryer apart to get to heating element model mde308 dayw

unplug dryer, move out from wall so you can get to the back. use a 1/4" nut driver and remove the rear panel. The heater element is on the bottom right. before replacing check for continuity. if the heater has continuity, check all of the other componets on the rear of the dryer. i would advise to check the small white thing with 2 wires connected.

Dryer runs hot and will not shut down automatically

there is a thermostat or what we would say a high temp switch near the heating element to keep it from getting to hot , the internal parts of the vent must be cleaned as well, cleaning the vent and the screen is not always good enough. Ive had to completely take the dryer apart and pull all pipes apart all the way to the lint screen to fix this problem.

Admiral Dryer: 5 cycle 3 temperature electric

Unplug Dryer
Remove back (many screws)
Clean lint from interior & Vent Chute
check for breakage & parts on dryer floor
check for burn damage (wires burned off or char)
if no burn or char:
could be the "Dryer Coil" itself broke or
a "Snap Disc" usually mounted on the coil housing.
Very Serious!!!! Replace only!!!! Do not ever bypass!!!!
Stay clear of dryer for test start
Be ready to shut it down fast in case of problems
Always replace back & vent chute
Good luck,
Vinnie

Amana Dryer will not work, will not stay on,makes funny noises

during the process of moving your dryer, it sounds like the drum became dislodged. With the dryer off, open the door and try to move the drum by hand, if it sounds like something is 'dragging' them the drum is off its bearings. IF it is, the quickest way to get help to take it apart is go online to youtub, type in your dryers name and model number and ask how to replace drum
