Question about Uniden TRU8885 Digital Answering Machine

I've lost my manual and need troubleshooting help

The phone rings on the handset and base but doesn't show the caller id. When you try to make a call, you can not hear a dial tone. When you answer the phone you can not hear anything on the other end and they can not hear you. I know its not our phone line because we have a phone upstairs that works with no problem.

Re: I've lost my manual and need troubleshooting help

Our phone decides to call screen people so the answering machine goes on after 2 rings. We can't find the manual.

Base handset has interference.

If you still have a regular phone about, plug it inhere the base handset is connected and see if the symptoms remain. If they do, the problem is likely with your house wiring or the phone company. If no interference on the regular set, base handset may be defective. Try it at someone else's house.

Radio Shack (hurry :) has in-line filters that may clear up line noise.

All he best

How do I identify an incoming phone number?

You need to have Caller ID from your phone Co. 1st. Then when you get a call the number shows up as the phone rings. The handset also has a button called,CID,which you can press and see the last 100 calls you've recieved:)

Why doesn't the LCD display doesn't work?

Does the LCD not work at all? or do you mean that it doesn't display Caller ID information? If the LCD is completely dead, you'll need to get the phone repaired. On the other hand, if it's just the Caller ID that's on the fritz, try this: unplug the base from the power socket; remove any batteries in both the base and the handset; wait one minute; plug the base back into the wall and replace all batteries. This will reset the Caller ID so it works again. (Depending on the phone you may or may not lose settings and memorized numbers.) If this doesn't help, the problem will require a professional repair.

Telstra 7100a home phone

Hi, It sounds like the batteries of the handset could be the problem.
Try replacing the batteries with other new batteries. I recently purchased a good brand of battery (not rechargeable), but they were down in their voltage straight out of the package.
Make sure the batteries are AAA NiMH batteries, and that they are charged for at least 16 hours.
Also check that you have inserted them the correct way +ve/-ve.
When you have inserted them, place the phone on the base and the handset should show you it is charging.
