If the dryer is not working at all that's not good! But it doesn't mean you need to go appliance shopping just yet. It may be something very simple like a bad door switch or even a broken door switch
actuator, in a kenmore dryer there is a tab thats sticks out of a hole in the wall that allows the dryer to run only if the door is shut, other models may have button that protrudes out of the dryer and when the door is shut, this allows the dryer to run. These switches go out from time to time, also if a dryer is full of lint build-up over time this will cause the dryer high limit or fuse to blow. The fuse is located near where the blower is in most cases. When the air in the dryer gets way too hot the fuse/hi-limit will blow and the house wont burn down

Red light flashing

Some of them TDs has a float which triggers a kill switch to stop the dryer if the water level exceeds the level and would overflow. Perhaps your float is stuck. I have not had the priv of working on one of these yet as they are not in my area. But I have been studying em.

It could be you opened the door before it had fully completed a program, and then turned it off. My Hotpoint machine has to be reset in these circumstances otherwise the next time it is turned on, it appears to let you select a different program but when you close the door resumes the program it was running when it was interrupted.

You don't say which model you have, so I cant give you a definitive answer, but you could try the following sequence which works on my Hotpoint:

1. Open door and switch machine on.2. Press and hold down the P button for several seconds until it gives a series of beeps (mine = 3 beeps).3. Release P button.4. Select the program you want in the usual way using the P button.5. Close door, and the machine should then run the selected program.
Hope this helps.

My CDT40 is not heating when used and when I press the option lights, they flash once then go off

Check the bias thermostat on the blower wheel housing, thermal fuse, high limit thermostat, and heating element on the back of the machine for continuity with a multimeter. Replace any of the mentioned parts with new one form the parts list below. Below is a video to show you how to check for continuity. The dryer is a little different, but the principles are the same.

Whats the error type for the hotpoint cdt40 error code - flashing on/off and flashing 'time delay'. I've got heat, the pump is working, the water resevoir is empty

went to a free forum and the experts there stated it was a code F08 fault and that one of the heater relays was welded open - to identify the correct relay was prohibitively expensive and a specialist card reader was also needed and that it wasn't worth the repair.

Dryer runs no water enters condenser draw, empty water light on.

Remove the filter draw on the bottom left, and wash out under running water to flush out all fluff.
Reach inside opening and clean as much fluff anf gunge as you can from the cavity.
Get a plastic bag tie, reach and feel for a small at the rear of the compartment, and poke hole clear..
If this does not solve the prob, then it is probably a sticking or faulty float valve., or switch.
This involves a complete strip down to access these components.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
