Motorola Pebl Phone doesn't ring

-   I have the same problem. I have used this Motorola U6 PEBL for at least 2 years, both in America and Taiwan. The problem has mysteriously started and stopped multiple times, never due to some menu option I or my dad changed, but always through some "magical" glitch.

My hypothesis:
This problem is related to the seating of the SIM card beneath the battery pack. The problem recently came back after I temporarily swapped SIM cards with my brother after my phone died and I needed to check voicemail. Ever since I put the card back in (other than having times when the phone tells me the card isn't seated properly), the phone does not ring, regardless of what ring tone settings I have it set on.

Other symptoms include not being able to view or edit phonebook items save by calling a contact, aborting the call, and then browsing the recent calls list.

also, not only does the phone fail to produce noise, but it will not vibrate when a call is recieved. It will vibrate, however, on reception of text messages.

My best bet for fixing this problem is just to play with the SIM card and turn the phone on and off until it starts to work again. One time after dealing with this problem, we brought the phone back to America to have them look at it. At the store, they took a SIM card, stuck it in the phone, and it rang as expected. Somehow the phone had started working again. It has kept on working for an entire year and a half, until yesterday when I messed with the SIM card.

There seems to be an excess of wiggle room in the SIM card receptor.
