This is a common problem to digital cameras for those who take it to the beach. The problem was that there could be granules of sand in the lens and thus preventing your lens to come out.

What you need to do is to hold you camera on your right hand, with the lens facing downwards. Then turn the camera on as you gently hit it with your left palm. Do this several times until the sand comes out and your lens could retract out again.

My camera fell in the sand I don't know if the sand got stuck in it & I don't know if that is what is causing the problem with the lenses not opening

is it notifieing you that there is a lens eror? or does it just not turn on? This type of problem you won't be able to fix yourself, and don't try to either! You will need to contact Kodak and tell them there is a lens eror (don't give details that you shouldn't be giving), hopefully they will be willing to fix it for you or replace with refurb.

It turns on then immediately it turns off. Thought it might be the battery so I re-charged. That wasn't it.

Not the battery. Sounds like your typical Lens problem. Probably a grain of sand or debris
got into the lens mechanism or the camera got a good shaking or lens jam. Happens
sometimes when you use a case for the camera. Camera turns on accidentally while in the
case can cause this too. I never recommend cases for this reason. There are temorary
remedies where you can tap the lens barrel with a pencil, but it may or maynot help.
Best solution is to take it in for repairs or replace the lens yourself if you feel comfortable doing it.

When i turn the camera on, it cycles through opening the lens and zooming in and out but won't focus and then says "turn camera off and back on" but the same thing happens.

Sounds like there is some issue with the lens mechanism. Most probably something like a grain of sand fell into the cogs in the zoom mechanism (been taking pictures on a beach? ;). Dirt gets into the mechanism through the gaps between the zoom barrels and the camera body. One tiny grain of sand is enough to cause the lens mechanism to jam or malfunction.
Unfortunately, this is a problem with pretty much all compact zoom cameras. Usually there is not much you can do with this. First thing I try in cases like these is gently tapping the camera to shift whatever might be blocking the mechanism. If unsuccessul, then only way I know to fix this is completely stripping the lens to clean it or swapping the lens with one taken from another camera ("donors" available on ebay ;).
If you are not keen on tinkering with your camera I would suggest selling it on ebay - TZ3s with lens mechanism issues still fetch pretty good prices.
Sorry if this is not much of a help, but unfortunately there is no easy fix to this one.
Good luck,
Raf

My camera turns on and then right back off. wen u press the power bottom the screen comes on and shows the Kodak label like its turning on and the lense begins to open but immideatly closes and the camera...

I had the same problem. This is how I fixed mine! Turn on camera grab the lens with two fingers before it can re-tract back into the camera and shut it self down. Use compressed air around the lens housing no more the 80 PSI. Hopefully this will remove any dirt.
It worked for me!

Lens will not open

Hi there, welcome to FixYa.

The problem your having is that sand and/or dirt gets in the lens mechanism of the camera. When the little cog inside gets sand or dirt in it, it prevents it from moving. It is what causes 95 percent of all lens errors. The other 5 are when the retaining pins get misaligned and don't go back in the holes properly. Mis aligned pins happen alot of times when you drop it with the lens extended, so let's go with the easy one first.

Take an air compressor (or borrow a friends) and put the nozzle up to the space in between the lens and and the camera. Blow it out real good. It may take a couple of tries, but it should free it up.

Let me know if that helped, and feel free to rate my answer.

Will not turn on/BOOT UP

ok you need to look at the camera lens , turn on camera and when the lens sticks out take out the battery now look at it , if there is a place that looks uneven just gently tapp the lens in the opposite direction of the uneven lens or in the opposite direction to make it straight
