I have a 57" Diamond Series Mitzubishi DLP. My screen is black / dark. When I turn it on I can hear audio but get no pic. It stays on with a green light for a minute and then turns itself off and goes to a red light.

Did this unit fail after a power outage or passing storm? If so could be lost of component in the low voltage power supply circuit or degausing relay circuit. I would strongly suggest you seek help from a qualified repair center. Don not attempt to repair yourself...to dangerous.
It looks like DLP chip is failing. It is installed on DMD board that in turn belongs to optical engine. Issue should get progressively worse. If you look at screen up close - you see that "tumbprint" consist of little small dark-gray squares, some of them flickering. Cheapest solution - to replace DLP chip. instead of replacing whole optical engine. This repair have to be confirmed (by running test patterns in service mode first) and done by professional. Repair could cost aroung $400. During procedure I would recommend to turn ceiling fans and other air blowing devices off. Single little dust speckle landing on the chip surface will ruing all effort and same amount of labor have to be applied yet again just to get rid of it (been there, done it). Good luck. Russ.
Do you have audio and if so can you change channels to hear other programs? If so ...you have a bad vertical IC. Have a tech turn up the screen control to see a white horizontal line. By your question I would say this will correct the problem.
I have a 42" LG LCD TV and just experienced this today. Watching cable,
then the screen went to black, but audio continued. I pressed the guide
button on my remote and pic came on with my guide menu. But then went
to black again 10sec later and has remained that way for nearly an
hour. Tried switching off both cable box and TV, disconnecting and
reconnecting cables, but no luck. Finally unplugged mains, waited a
minute, then turned back on. Everything seems normal now after the
You have a vert sweep problem and unless you know how to trouble shoot this cuircit bring it to a pro. I found out mostly in these sets that the vert output IC is bad.. Also sometimes the b+ filter cap off the fly is leaky and made the IC to fail. Another thing is Im surprised to hear you got a pic with the vert failure and a bright line in the pic!! This could be a big problem when the sets fixed so dont run it too long like this. It could burn a line all the way across the screen and you will see a dark faint line in your pic because of this. BE CAREFULL!!
