The following assumes that the ice compartments are filling with water. Be sure you check that as the first step in diagnosing your problem.

The ice maker is controlled by a temperature sensor which determines when the 'dump' cycle begins. There is a heater in the small ice cube wells that furnishes heat when the dump cycle is initiated in order to make the ice cubes come out of the well.

If this heater is not working, you'll get the symptoms you describe. Possibly a few ice cubes will dump without the heater, but most will not and since the remaining ice is already frozen, another cycle won't occur until the cold ice is dumped, so all you get are those few cubes that just happened to dump without the help of the heater.

It's possible that the control thermostat is bad, not 'telling' the heater to come on, but in most cases, when the thermostat or anything in the control circuit goes bad, the ice maker will simply stop working.

Which brings us to the heating coils surrounding the ice cube compartments. It can be removed by reasonably skilled homeowner, but if you feel uncomfortable about taking the ice-making mechanism apart, best to leave it to a qualified repairman.

Hope this was helpful.

GE Profiel model TPX24PBBE; getting "DE" fault. Can reset with "system check" and "cubed ice" buttons but problems return in a few days.

this code means the unit has not defrosted in the last 48 hours and may indicate a defective defrost timer or associated defrost components, try removing the toe-kick panel at the floor in front of the refrigerator,in there will be a small 2" X 2" box with 4 wires on a connector going to it,turn it until you hear a click and the fans stop,it will then be in defrost cycle, then look inside freezer and see if you see orange glow from defrost heater element and hear popping and sizzling sounds from ice melting and hitting element

Have a jennair refrigerator mdl#jfi2589aes took the ice cube storage box out to fill cooler, when i put it back in the ice cube maker will not dispense ice cubes to the storage box, ice maker is making...

Hi

This usually is because the drive on the ice box is not engaged,
1. Remove the ice box and empty it into a bowl
2. Replace the ice box and turn the auger (spiral metal inside) until it locks into the drive motor
3. Ensure the box is pushed back as far as it will go
4. Put ice back into ice box
5 Try dispensing ice again
This is a common problem as there are teeth on the back of the ice box that have to align with the drive motor in the back of the freezer

Hope this helps

its the ice maker .water or condensation has built up in the ice maker modual and refroze upon turning unit back on.either get a new ice maker or uninstall the ice maker and let it dry for a few days and reinstall.but it could happen again that way.or maybe not.

Ice Cubes won't drop out

The thickness probe should be approximatly 1/4 inch off of the evaporator.Sounds like you might have loose grids on the evaporator.turn the unit off and remove the curtain.use a flash light and inspect the grids. There should not be space in between the joints,if there is the ice will freeze behind the grids and not properly release when in harvest. Also gently pull at the grids,if they pull towards you or wiggle then they are separating. I have removed one of the grids and had the unit continue to run for sometime until the evaporator could be replaced. The plating being spotty causes release issues as well. Finally check the level of the machine, front to back and side to side. Not being level will also cause release problems

ICE CUBE MAKER SMELLY ICE CUBES

Hello margrek
Welcome,

YOU SAID, YOU HAVE KENMORE ELITE BOTTOM FREEZER WITH ICE MAKER THE ICE CUBES SMELL HORRIBLE ALWAYS, I EVEN TOSS THEM OUT EVERY FEW DAYS, STILL SAME PROBLEM

Ice has bad odor and taste.

1• Ice has picked up odor or
flavor from strong food stored
in refrigerator or freezer.
2• Water running to ice maker
has poor taste or odor.
3• Ice not used frequently enough.
4• Cover foods tightly. Discard stale ice. Ice maker will
produce fresh supply.
5• Add filter to water supply line. Consult a water purifying
company.
7• Discard stale ice.

Ice maker stopped after electric shutoff

You may have a problem with the computer control board in the ice maker.  Try this.  Turn off the icemaker for about 2 minutes.
Turn on the ice maker and press the clear button.  Press and hold this button for 12 seconds to get it to force extract.  This will confirm that the motors will work and push the ice cubes out.  Afterwards, let it run by itself.  If it still doesn't make ice, you will need to replace the icemaker.
