Good battery but drill won't run

Push the battery in and out while pressing the trigger on the the drill to see if there is a loose connection here.
Check the terminals inside the drill and the battery terminals .These sometimes become tarnished and don't make contact. Clean with very fine sandpaper.

Dewalt 18v XRP Hammer drill cause battery to burn, I'm talking flames and smoke. Motor run in both direction.

I hope this drill is still under warranty as the battery is in serious trouble. As long as the motor is turning, it should not be causing the battery to do this. Hope this helps!

Can I adjust the slip clutch on my Dewalt XRP?

Yes it is the black ring with the numbers on it, the lower the number, the easier it slips. Higher number, less slip.

How do you loosen the chuck so that a different bit can be installed

If you lower the torque setting, you can just hold the chuck with one hand and pull the trigger (put it in reverse), then change the bit and reverse your order of operations.
once complete, increase the torque setting to where it was.

How to remove a chuck from a DeWalt hand drill

Open chuck all the way (like for a large drill bit). There should be a set screw at the bottom (where you would put a drill bit). Don't turn too hard - it may be a left handed screw (I don't remember if it is a lefty for sure but try gently each way then with a bit more force each way until it moves).

Good luck.
