Re: Rover 620ti

Definately operated at 5400rpm, that should be minimum. Those all audio apps recommend recording at 7200rpm, ala 3.5 hard disks. It's the set standard for hard disk recording. The drive is spiining to slow to keep up with system clock speed.

Keep me posted.

No power to Edirol UA-25 usb audio capture, the unit was working and now I cannot power unit. When I connect to PC I recieve a error message about a power surge has occured, could this be a fuse problem? I...

Connect it before powering system. The usual cause of no power on this is improper software configuration or assignment in the PC regarding the sound devices. It is NOT a "fuse" problem.
Make sure that when you go to "Sounds and Devices" in the control panel that the "Voice" tab is shown assigned to the UA-25. If not, make sure it is in the list of devices and assign it as default.

No power but works through usb

Checkthe 9volt dc adaptor with a volt meter to make sure it is supplying the unit with power. Does the power indicator light come on when you plug it into the wall? if the power adaptor is supplying power, then next i would check for an internal OR external fuse around where the power plugs in, also making sure the plug it plugs into is not loose or wiggling as this could mean the female portion of the plug may have bad soldering or has been broken. please post again here with your findings... My Firebox was working, then I heard some sort of pop noise and now the firewire doesn't work and/or power when hooked up via power adapter. Is there a way this can be fixed?

If you understand the working of the power circuit and have a multi-meter and soldering tools you can possibly do the repairs yourself. Be advised this could be dangerous. The power circuit may possibly still have charged capacitors which can discharge and cause injury or death. The popping sound you heard was most likely a capacitor or Zenor Diode pop when it went out. You will need to find the faulty part and replace it.

Installation of audiophile 192

Here is a list computer beeps and what they mean.

  • No Beeps: Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals
  • One Beep: Everything is normal and Computer POSTed fine
  • Two Beeps: POST/CMOS Error
  • One Long Beep, One Short Beep: Motherboard Problem
  • One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps: Video Problem
  • One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps: Video Problem
  • Three Long Beeps: Keyboard Error
  • Repeated Long Beeps: Memory Error
  • Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps: CPU Overheating

Most times the beeping is caused by a bad/loose connection somewhere or card not seated properly.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting everything again. Make sure that all the power plugs are connected properly even if you didn't mess with them. Moving things around can sometimes be enough to give you the "BEEPS". ";-}

If you are still having much beeping and no computing you can try my personal favorite.

Start first with verbal threats. Next move to a second floor window and, while you explain whats going to happen if it doesn't knock it off, open the window.

If that fails give it the pitch.
Believe it or not I have used this technique and after reassembly and repair.....No more beep.

I hope this helps but if not let me know and we will try something else.

How do i reset my fw 1082

I have the same problem. To reset you have to hold down the first row (horizontally) and third row of buttons on the upper left side (6 buttons in all) and power on the machine. The lights should all flash and come back on.

This reset does not however fix the problem that all the lights remain on. Has anyone found a fix to this? I've read that this is caused by a "burnt" out firewire card (due to the flaw in design that the card in the system draws too much power from the computer).

I've also read that the card is somewhere between $150 and $300...

My advices to anyone getting this thing... get as long a warranty as possible, because it will probably break after 4-5 years of light to moderate use.

E-mu 1616m freezes and makes an awful tone (deee!) ouch!

What OS are you running? The problem you are having usually comes from a bad driver or a problem with the software you are using. Does it ever do that when using media player or other players? Has it always done it or is this a recent problem?
Have you tried using a different recording software like Cubase or Sonar? If you don't have any others to test with, you can download Audacity for free. It is an open source multitrack recording software that works pretty well. In case the link above didn't work, the page is at ... It is cross platform and works with most hardware. Even works with my DIGI 001 rack.
You can also try uninstalling it and reinstalling with updated drivers from the Creative website.
Let me know if I can help further.

Sound problems

try to check whether the power connection is somewhat loose or nearly loose in the plug, it affects somewhow. try to plug and unplug it it the outlet and see if its loosen. then you might need an adapter to keep it intact with the power outlet.

Tascam midi and audio conflict error

First try turning off the onboard audio device using the BIOS interface. Try pressing f4, f2 or delete key rapidly at the flash screen beginning when you first turn on the computer. Look around in the bios (usually in "integrated periperals" area) and disable any onboard audio options that you see.
-In windows XP you can go to Control panel - Sound Devices and change the "map through" feature, select your default device, and run a hardware test simulation with a microphone for each device. Nice setup btw.
