Question about Whirlpool 24 in. DU1055XTP Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Whirlpool dishwasher top spinner and top rack spinner is not putting out water or very little and not spinning. I have taken apart and cleaned everything including the sump / chopper, can't find any blockage in the tubes that deliver water from the pump to the spinners. Is the Pump or Motor done? how can that be it's less than 5 years old? Its a Whirlpool Quiet Partner I Model DU1055XTPQ3

I found the fix myself. It turned out that the water inlet valve, which is a selenoid controled valve was plugged and needed to be replaced. The valve was not letting enough water to flow into the tub before the wash or rinse cycles. Not enough water for the pump to pump up to the top and rack spinners. It cost me `$53 for the part from a local appliance store. I could have got it for about ~$33 plus shipping online but I did not want to wait. Put the new Water Inlet valve in and it works like a charm. The way I figure it out was to run the dishwasher with the door slightly open by defeating the door latch sensor switch with a small flat blade screw driver. I could see that hardly any water flow was coming out of the water inlet and the wash cycle did not have enough water, to run right after the fill cycle stopped.

First, confirm that the holes are not blocked on these arms. (I did not want to assume you have done this.)

Then check the impeller on top of the motor stem for being loose or worn/damaged - to rule the impeller out. If it is fine, then the motor is failing and too weak to drive the spray arms.
To answer your question, I think the answer is "They don't make them like they used too!"

Clean on bottom rack but dirty on top

Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub. If it is dirty or clogged the water pressure may not be strong enough to spin the top arm. Make sure also the there is nothing blocking the holes of the spinner arm. If the filter and arm are clear then the pump may be failing.

Top rack not cleaning, possibly spinner not spinning?

Try twirling the spinner by hand to see if it is binding. If it looks ok then there could be something plugging the water passage to the spinner. If you have access to a water hose you could run water into that verticle passage pipe and see if there is an obstruction. If so it can be taken apart for cleaning.

I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher and the 3rd level spinner broke off. I have a new one and now need to know how to replace it.

the manifold in the back of the dishwasher needs to come out. you can either pop it all the way out it only undo it halfway if your arm is small enough.. there are either 2 tension clips or 2 screws holding it to the top and back. if you undo the top of the manifold and pull it down you should be able to slide the new part in place. the plastic push pin goes on top of the manifold and the spinner goes on the other side. it may be a little difficlt to push the 2 together..

Whirlpool Dishwasher GU1100

ill asume that were talking about the upper most spray arm, maybe 5 inches across and mountsto thte top of the tub??? if this is so, the new spinner comes with a clip that closes together after placing in proper position, its a "push" style pin lock, so no tools are required, simply pushe the pinin from the borrom ofspinner through the top of manifold and pushe second ave of connecter down onto it , ther should be no problem with this

Need to install a new top spinner on the roof of our dishwasher

the medium sized plastic piece slides into the spinner and you put it upto the manifold. you have to remove the manifold so that you can push the smaller piece of plastic through the top of the manifold into the medium sized piece which would be holding the spinner up.

Dishes and Flatware Don't Get Clean

Check to see that the removable cup rack on the left is seated correctly. One of the support legs of this rack is located above center of the spinner. If this leg is sitting on the top of the spinner rather than the center cross member of the main rack, the spinner will not move after that rack has been loaded.
Also check that the spinner is free moving once the draw is fully loaded, some plates can sit low enough to obstruct the spinner.
