Question about Apple iPhone 3G
Though iPhone uses quite a different storage mechanism, still you can recover deleted or lost data (such as text messages, voice mail, contacts, photos etc) with a third party specific iPhone data recovery software called Tenorshare iPhone Data Recovery. I used it to recover deleted videos from iPhone 4s and it worked.
You can give it a shot! Download it from http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/iphone-data-recovery.html

Have you restored these voice mail messages
on the inner memory card of this iPhone?
If you do, you can easily restore these deleted voicemail messages back with the help of a phone data recovery freeware as long as they are not been overwritten by any new file.
Try to download this phone data recovery freeware that has ever successfully retrieved all the needed data of my friend off from his Samsung phone:
But, if you've not saved them all on the inner memory card, you may already erase them all. I am sorry!
Next time, always remember to store all your important data on the inner memory card of your phone.

How to undelete iPhone 4/4S/5 text messages?
As we know, every time you sync iDevice with iTunes, it will automatically make a backup of your iDevice contents including photos, SMS, reminders, contacts and more. Therefore, as long as you have ever synced your iPhone 4/4S/5 with iTunes, you can get the lost messages from iPhone 4/4S backup files created by iTunes. Sounds greats, isn't it?
To restore lost messages from iTunes backups, you need:
Do not connect your iPhone 4/4S/5 to iTunes again until the messages are recovered. Otherwise, the old backup file will be overwritten by the current content on your iPhone 4/4S/5. Once it happens, the deleted messages will be gone forever.
In addition, iTunes backup files cannot be used and opened directly on Mac and iDevice. The backup files location is "~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup". In Finder, press "ALT/Option" on your keyboard and click "Go" from menu bar, you will see "Library" option. Choose it and then you can find the backup files.

The only way to get it back is if it is saved on a backup on your PC, if it's there you'll have to restore from that backup.

I called my voicemail today for that and there was an option at the beginning of the call to my voicemail. You have to call your phone number hit # or * then type in your 4 digit code. You know like back in the day with the other phones.
