Thats normal water expanding and boiling off from the microwave boiling those tiny water pockets in food... sounds like popcorn sometimes.
Cover your food with a paper towel to avoid spatter on the ceiling of the microwave when this is happening.

Microwave crackling sound

It may be grease or food particles or other arcing on or behind the waveguide cover, in the area of the turntable, or stirrer in the ceiling.

A number of days ago we put two plates of food in the microwave to reheat them. There was a snap, crackle, pop noise. We checked to see there was no metal object in the unit....there wasn't ...we know...

Are you sure the plates were Microwave oven safe? Some dishes have metal in the colors of the design. A snap, crackle, pop noise normally means there is metal present in the oven.

It wont heat up my food

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
Whenever a microwave will not heat up food this is normally due to a failure of 1 of 3 things
First is the mengatron Magnetrons are made of magnets that conduct an electrical circuit, thus creating the energy needed to cook food in the microwave. Although magnetrons are durable, they will eventually begin to fail. If a microwave begins to lose the capacity to heat, the problem is most likely the magnetron. Testing the voltage in the magnetron is done using a device called an ohmmeter it is tested like this
Unplug the microwave from the wall and turn it around so that you are facing the back of it.Remove the screws in the back cover and the sides then remove the outer shell it should slide back a bit then up and off
Locate the high-voltage capacitor, an oval-shaped cylinder, and place the tip of an insulated screwdriver on top of one of the metal terminals protruding from the top of it. Tilt the other end of the screwdriver downward slightly until the metal part touches the other metal terminal. You may hear a popping or crackling sound, which is energy being discharged. Remove the screwdriver from the terminals.
Place the tip of screwdriver back onto the first terminal and tilt the other end of the screwdriver until the metal touches the metal base that the capacitor sits on. Hold for a few seconds, during which time you may hear a popping sound. Repeat the procedure with the other terminal. i will finish this in a second post

Is there A FUSE? My microwave gave a pop and stopped working?

If your microwave gave a pop sound, that was the magnetron going "heats food" to have it repaired will probably exceed the price of a new microwave oven. There is a main fuse in the unit near the high voltage parts.

Own Whirlpool microwave model MH7100XY, everything works on it, however it does not heat anything, heard a small pop and after that it does not warm or cook anything?????

The pop sound is an indicator the magnetron is gone that heats the food. It is cheaper to replace the microwave oven than have it repaired.

Microwave making loud buzzing sound when operated, sounds like something is about to pop.

could be several possible components at fault. how old is it ? does the unit heat ? if so, could be a hi voltage diode, or a hi voltage tranformer. (older frigidaire m'w's had trans. that would crackle and "arc" when bad) it is not the mag though, it wouldn't heat if so.
