Question about Sony SDM-HS73P 17" LCD Monitor

2 Answers

After first turning the computer on, the monitor screen image will sometimes display: off center vertically or horizontally, tinted off color, as lines, or not present at all. SOMETIMES pushing the monitor power on-off switch will produce the corect image. When this fails, disconnecting the power plug and reconnecting it once or sometimes several times will produce correct image so screen is fine and useable after the fussing with the tweaking proceedures described. I have tried changing the monitor cable...no change. This acts like some sort of signal variation at start up and I am wondering if that or whatever is causing the problem is fixable at reasonable cost. Monitor is a Sony SDM-HS73 LCD 17 Inch which I especially like and has no other problems meaning I would spend a moderate amount for repair or repair myself if it needs a part replacement and part is availab;le.

The screen should have a auto adjust feature. If you are using the Blue - VGA cable this may happen sometimes, it happens on my fully working asus monitors when I use a VGA cable instead of DVI.

to adjust the screen or run a auto adjustment .

Press Menu, press up or down and select A - screen and press the OK button.

Press up or down to select Auto and press the OK button
Make the appropriate adjustments of the screen’s phase, pitch
and horizontal/vertical position for the current input signal
and store them.

press up or down to select the enter or a U turn like symbo and press the Ok button to return to the mennu screen, close the menu.

This sounds like a video card issue. I would try changing all settings to default or update video card drivers. Adjust screen on monitor if it has adjustments. Try different monitor with video card, and monitor on different pc if possible.

My crt acer ac512 monitar only centre line view,c"not full view why?

there are several reasons why picture of crt monitors did not display good picture. if your monitor had horizontal line at the center of the screen?...the faulty is in the vertical deflection, check the vertical oscillator also the fusible resistors & capacitors around that section. if there had vertical line at the center of the screen?..check the horizontal deflection, horizontal output transistor also check the YOKE.

Blue vertical bar Left side and yellow,red vertical bars are seen both side of screen cause images are not readable

Hello
If the monitor displays these vertical bars, after a service has been done to it, and if LOT has replaced, there is a mismatching problem with replaced LOT and the defelction yoke.

CRT Monitor Displays only a thin bright horizontal line

Vertical IC loose connection. Best is to reflux it or resolder. It is in internal circuitry inside the monitor commonly an upside single line IC.

And its a minor repair only. But I recommend it to be serviced by a qualified technician. Inside it are plenty of nasty voltages. It might caught you.

Monitor problem

Hi,

Appreciate the "Ask Me".

I am assuming that you have more than just familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, the use of a DVM and a soldering iron. Further, that you have access to a service manual.

Width problem is basically insufficient horizontal deflection, then analysis would have to be in the horizontal section. Areas to initially focus on:
  1. 12V line and pin 29 of IC401;
  2. 110 V peak to peak at collector of Q403, if yes check Q 402 & 404 as well as T401;
  3. other components that affect the horizontal size are:
  • IC201
  • Q 405, 406, 407 & 408;
  • D409
  • L401
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

NEC LT35 color problem

If you're trying to project video, then the unit needs professional service. If you're trying to project from a computer, you may have a loose display cable, broken pins in one or both ends of the display cable, or broken conductors (wires) within the display cable. The computer sends its image information as a template of RED image components, GREEN image components and BLUE image components with the projector overlays to create the complete image with blended color values. (The computer also sends HORIZONTAL and VERTICAL synchronization signals, but those don'e affect the color content of the projected image.) That's why I'm suspicious of the display cable, conductors or pins.
