Question about Heating & Cooling
if the noise goes away when you turn on the a/c then you either have a bad a/c belt or more likely a problem with the a/c pulley. The pulley and/or clutch may be failing and need to be replaced. Is this something you are planning on fixing yourself?
If you want to get it fixed from a tech, if it is the a/c compressor it can cost as much as $1000 to fix. If it is just a belt it should only be around $75.
If you do not want to get if fixed right now, only option would be to leave the a/c on while driving it until you get it fixed or remove the belt. I would advise to do this as soon as possible to keep anything from breaking.
