Question about Packard Bell Easy One Silver 2120 Notebook

Open Question

My Samsung LNT4065F 40" LCD TV is dying on on me. About a month or two ago I had the picture go out on me. I still had sound and there was a tiny line going through the middle and top part of the screen where I could see the picture moving. I'm sure it wasn't an cable input problem or anything, but the backlight seemed to function there was just no picture. After turning it on and off a couplet times I unplugged it and plugged it back in and BOOM! Success! It worked fine. Until a couple days ago that is. It did it again while watching tv. I unplugged it for a few hours, turned it back on. I got a picture again but only for 10-15 minutes. Unplugged AGAIN for a while, plugged it back in, worked for over an hour this time. Right now it's been unplugged for over 24 hours but I'm not sure what to do. I don't have the money to spend on a 500 dollar repair or anything, and my warranty has been up for months now. I'm relatively tech savvy with this stuff, I built my own pc. So depending on the part, I could PROBABLY replace something on my own, but right now I'm not sure what the part I would need would be. I've heard conflicting info from google searches. Any advice on what I should do? I'd like to get it fixed for the least amount of money as possible. Frankly I'm kind of broke right now and this is my only TV.

have you tried to create an online service request w/ samsung? ...with issues like these, it could be a number of things - i'm leaning towards backlight inverter board though

The sound on my Samsung Int4042H LCD TV went off but the picture stays on. I turn the TV on and off, but the sound is not back.

The audio amplifier from your tv has just died - it happens. You need to open the back cover, locate the amplifying IC, unscrew the radiator from it, unsolder the IC, buy an exact replacement and solder it back.

Samsung 40" flat screen looses sound

this problem started on my LN-S4051D a couple of years ago. eventually the sound stopped working altogether. I then started using my surround sound speakers for the TV via optical out but soon that stopped working as well. I recently took the TV to a repair shop who said that the main board is bad and needs to be replaced. Labor plus parts was going to cost me $400. I said no thanks and paid for the estimate. Good luck.

Picture won't come on

Most likely failed capacitors in the power supply. I am currently having the same problem with my 26 month old LN46A750. Samsung has agreed to fix this as an out of warranty "courtesy repair".

Two (2) minute start up Samsung LNT4065F

I found information on the earthinfo website that seems to pretty well describe, what I think to be the problem. I believe this to be a capasitor problem on the pwer supply. I'm going to try and replace these as time permits. It Seems MANY have had this problem and I'm convinced this is the resolve I'm going to persue. Very helpfull website, step by step instructions and pictures. I do not, at this time, believe this to be any software issue.

Television display

This normally causes by failure of power supply board. Some time it causes by failure of inverter board, in this case you can see the picture moving on the dark screen as it has no back light.

Samsung 40" lcd sound but no picture.

May be the backlight is out, can you see a picture when shining a flashlight on the screen. if yes you have either a bad inverter power supply or bad screen (panel).
both are serious , also could be just a few bad capacitors on the power supply, if you want you can do a visual of the power board caps will appear swollen on top and are easy to solder in cost about $1 each

Samsung 40 no picture

If it is only 6 months old you probably still have a warranty. This is definitely a hardware issue, and unless you are comfortable taking your new TV apart, I would contact Samsung for repair.
