    Thanks for your response!!

You do not mention the branding of DVD+R's that you are using but your recorder do not like the "el-cheapo" disks. On with the bad
news.... Once a disk is put in the recorder and it makes an attempt at
recording, you are left with only 2 options for a DVD+R disk. It will
either record, be finalized and be a usable disk or it will fail and
you are left with a frisbee. In the burning process, the DVD media is
etched by the laser inside of the recorder. Once this etching process
is done, the DVD can not be re-used unless it is a DVD+RW. This leads
me to the good news. I have gone to this procedure to get my DVD's
burnt. I use only Memorex or Verbatim DVD+RW's and will burn at
anywhere from settings 1 to4. I do not use the 5 or 6 setting for 6 or
8 hr. at all. Once the RW is done and finalized, I take it over to my
PC where I am able to transfer the media onto an "el-cheapo" DVD+R.
Once I know I have a good archive copy, I can erase the DVD+RW right
there in the PC. Having done that, it is ready to go for the next
recording. I have found that I can get 35-40 recordings out of a
Verbatim and 40-45 out of a Memorex. At that point, I usually make a
final recording and mark the disk so that I know not to reuse it.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

You need to use the disc's that i suggested. I have not faced any problem after i used the disc's i mentioned and you need to follow the same procedure . If everything goes well, you would be able to finalize the disc.

    Thanks.

How to enter disc menu for finalizing dvd-r on philips dvdr3330H

The Disc Settings menu is accessed from the Disc Index Picture screen (so it's not as easily accessed as on other brands of DVD recorders). When you first put a recorded disc in the device, you'll see this index screen. At this point you need to press the UP arrow on the remote repeatedly until the disc content menu appears. This is a screen with the disc name, amount of recording time used and the date of the first recording. Then press the Right arrow button to get to the Disc Settings menu. Use the Down Arrow to reach the line that reads Finalise Disc. Then press OK and then press OK a second time to confirm the action.

The documentation for the DVDR3330H is available from Philips here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=hu&ctn=DVDR3330H/02 . See page 52 for the screen captures. The Finalise steps are on page 53.

I hope this helps.

After dubbing from vhs to dvd, the dubbed dvd is placed into a PC but it comes up saying the dvd is blank..We used a dvd+R dvd. Any ideas?

First did you finalize the disc after dubbing? When the DVD/VCR recorder is in stop mode, press Menu and navigate to Disc Settings > Disc Finalize and select Finalize and press Enter. Select OK and then Enter again. (Navigate the menus with the up/down arrows followed by pressing enter. Use the right/left arrows to highlight an option.)

If the disc was finalized, try a different brand of DVD+R or a DVD-R disc. I've seen some DVD recorders that don't work well with some brands or types of discs. (The same can happen with computers - burning a coaster.)

The manual is available here: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/Samsung-DVD-VR375-UserManual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Please send finalize directions

To finalize a disc:
First make sure that you left enough space after recording to the disc. Press Stop or Disc-Menu (during playback). Select the first title with the Up arrow or Stop. Then press the Up arrow to get the Disc Information. Then press the right arrow to enter Settings For. Then use the up/down arrows to select Finalize disc and select OK to confirm.

This option will only be available for unfinalized discs that were recorded to by this DVD recorder. If the disc was created on another unit you may be able to finalize it with the Finalize feature in the main menu. (Tools (icon has a hammer and a wrench) > Features).

You can get the manual here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=DVDR77/17&scy=us&slg=en . See page 82 (page 94 in the pdf).

I hope this helps.

CAN RECORD FROM VCR TO DVD+R, CAN PLAY DVD ON SAME, BUT CANNOT PLAY ON OTHER DISC PLAYERS. I THINK THAT THIS IS BECAUSE I AM NOT FINALIZING CORRECTLY. WHEN AND HOW DO I FINALIZE A NEWLY RECORDED DISC?...

Usually you finalize the disc after loading it with all the desired content (leaving a bit of space for the finalization). So if you are recording a TV show, depending on the setting (SP, LP, XP), you might finalize the disc after recording 4 1/2 shows. The How may vary by model but on my DVD recorder, I find the finalize command in the same menu area as adding a title and initializing a DVD-RW disc. So I press Setup to enter the OSD menu, then go down to Disc (looks like an optical disc) then right arrow to enter the sub menu. Then press down to Disc Finalize and the right arrow again and press enter. Select OK and Enter again. (RW discs can be unfinalized to add more content.) Then wait until the process is done.

I hope this helps.

HOW TO FINALIZE THE DVD CASSETE AND CONNECT TO T.V SET?

Finalising a disc enables the disc to be played on any other compatible machine. By doing this it changes the disc format so that you can no longer record to it turning it into a Play Only disc. On your Panasonic DVD Recorder you can record to many (if not all depending on the model) of the following DVD Disc formats to the limit of their capacity over multiple occasions. The disc in question can be played back and recorded to on the DVD Recorder during this time but until it is finalised it will not work on any other machine.
DVD Formats: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD+R, DVD+RW.
How do I Finalise my disc?
  1. When you have finished the initial recording stop the disc and press the ~FUNCTIONS~button.
  2. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "To Others" and press~ENTER~.
  3. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad Scroll down to "DISC MANAGEMENT" and press ~ENTER~.
  4. When the disc management screen opens you need to use the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad to scroll down to "FINALIZE" and press ~ENTER~.
  5. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "YES" and press~ENTER~.
  6. Using the ~UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT arrows~ on the keypad select "START" to begin finalizing the disc, please note by pressing start here you will no longer be able to record or edit the disc being finalized.
Finalizing may take up to 15 minutes.
Do not disconnect the mains power in this time. A message appears when finalizing is finished, press the enter button when this appears. It will now play on other compatible machines.

Finalize disc

Is that in a PC or a standalone DVD Recorder.
If it's in a PC then the burning software you use sholud have it in the help file.
If it's a standalone DVD Recorder it will tell you in the user manual. If you don't have it and you can post the make and model number of the recorder someone here may be able to tell you where to get it from.

If the mwr20v6 has a tuner you must have the channel on the dvd set to the program, if it has no tuner, you must have your tv set to the correct channel.

Samsung R155 Recording from VHS Issues

The reason why you are having this problem is because you haven't finalized the disc. In able for you to play that Burned DVD that you have you need to Finalized the disc. Finalizing a recordable optical disc means writing the disc's lead-in (the Table of Contents or TOC) and lead-out information (blank data that fills up the unused space at the end of the disc) so that a DVD player will know where the various tracks begin and end. Without the TOC, a conventional DVD player will not be able to read the contents of the disc. Once the disc is finalized, no more information can be written to it. Finalizing takes about two or three minutes. To finalize a DVD-RW/DVD-R: 1. Press the Menu button with the disc stopped. 2. Select Disc Manager and press Enter or the right arrow. 3. Select Disc Finalize and press Enter or the right arrow. You will be asked twice if you are sure that you want to finalize the disc. Select Yes and press Enter. Once the disc is finalized, you cannot delete entries from the record list. After being finalized, the DVD-R/DVD-RW (video mode) operates in the same manner as a DVD-Video. Recorded discs must be finalized in order to play back in non-Samsung DVD players. A DVD-RW disc that has been recorded by DAO (disk-at-once mode) in a PC cannot be unfinalized. A DVD-RW disc that has been recorded in Video Mode on a non-Samsung recorder cannot be unfinalized by a Samsung recorder. A DVD-R disc cannot be unfinalized. Note: Finalization does not apply to DVD-RAM. If you cannot finalize a DVD-R or DVD-RW disc, make sure that Disc Protection is turned off. If you are still having difficulty, you may try calling technical support of SAMSUNG. Note: Do not turn the recorder off while it is finalizing the disc. Data on the disc will be damaged if the finalization process is interrupted.
