Question about GE Refrigerators

GE refridgerator fan speed changes constantly

The fan spees goes up & down every few seconds...cooling fine, put on turbo speed is fine, just doesn't like the low speed. The moaning is getting very annoying.

...thanks for telling me how they "talk" to each other, but does this mean the board is bad?? The speed changes every few seconds.

    thanks!

I will try to answer your question . Your refrigerator had 3 thermistors in the refrig side , and 2 in the freezer side . These thermistors , send resistance messages to the main control board , mounted on the back of the refrigerator . If say #1 thermistor tell the board , I need to be colder , then the board will tell the damper ( small vent in the top of refrig section ) , to open . If the #2 thermistor tells the board , I need to be colder , then the board tells the fan to speed up , to get more air to the refrigerator section . #3 thermistor , works with the turbo cool switch , turning the fan to a high speed also . If the thermistors tell the board , we're all fine , then the fan will slow down , but still circulate to make/keep the freezer colder . If the freezer thermistors say , we're ok also , then the refrigerator will cycle off , until a thermistor asks to be cooler again . The fan works off D C voltage , in which fan speed is regulated (faster or slower) , by the thermistors "talking" to the control board .

You should check the thermistors by the control panel in the diagnostic mode . 0 7 is the diagnostic code numbers for the control and sensor system test . p - pass , o - fail , B - bad amplifier & replace main control board .

I purchased a used 1998 Volvo S70 2.3 Turbo about 2-months ago that had overheating issues.. I can run the car at idle without it getting hot. When I take it around the block with the A/C on, the...

the 2 fans should both work you have a fan for the a/c and a fan for the water coolant, when a/c is on the fan should be going, depending on a/c settings there could be 2 fans for the a/c as the a/c fan is next to the radiator you can get heat crossover if the a/c is not cooling down. if engine is fine without the a/c on then i would look at the fans.

Side by side GE turbo-cool Gss25XSRBSS, the freezer seems to be fine, the fridge is not cooling. Fans seem to be running smoothly, no weird noises. Turbo cool turns on. It hasn't been running for

if you go here you can see the damper, fan assy. that's in the top of your machine in the fresh food side
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Damper/WR49X10091/1055112
this is a damper with another fan in it,when the t-stat calls for cold air the damper door opens to let the cold air in from the freezer and the fan in it blows the cold air around inside the fridge,if the freezer is fine and the fridge side is warm most likely this is your problem, part number WR49X10091 and it's around 130 dollars.unplug the machine, remove the light cover on the ceiling, remove the 1/4 inch screws and drop the light assy.remove thhe filter cover on the right side so you can remove the damper assy.pop off the cover on the piece that runs up the back center, remove the screws to the damper, read the instructions and put it back together again.should take you around 45 to 60 minutes.hope this helps and good luck.

My GE Side by Side is not working wierdly. the top few shelves on both the freezer and refridgerator are not cooling but the bottom shelves are cold.

Check to see if your evaporator fan is blowing in the freezer, then check your condensor fan behind the back panel. If those are both running make sure your coils are clean underneath your fridge. Cold goes down heat goes up, that's why it is warm up top and cold down. Start there. Good luck!

My GE side by side refridgerator makes a "howling" sound. Any ideas?

the problem you are having is in the main control board. ge has had a problem with this part causing the fan motor to go into high and low speed which causes the howling noise. unfortunately it is a costly fix, around $125 for the part. if you are savy to changing this part it is a matter of unplgging about 5 connections and replugging them. the new board has an extra set of pin that nothing connects to. READ the instuctions and it is a simple fix, saving about $50-60 in labor costs.

GE Arctica Refridgerator, PSS26MSRB SS, water leaking from tray, and other questions

ok first the water dispenser i would take out the drip tray and run a thin bead of black silicone to seal it there as to the turbo light getting brighter its because when you switch on turbo its running more power through the switch to the fan now to the fan early model fans were noisy i think ge redid them and if you contact ge you can get one of the newer fans hope this helps by the way loved the pics and mpeg that helps

Ge profile artica refer fan speed PSS29NHPBWW

hmmmm no thats peculiar it will slow down and start back each time the doors are open also fan will turn on even if fridge is turned off if a door is opened londer than 3 mins. If the fan still operates irradicly even in the liner protect mode (turn refrig off open door for 3 mins, fan turns on) then the main board is faulty not uncommon for these refrigs.
