Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS5 Digital Camera

Please Turn camera off and then on again

When I turn the camera on, it comes up and then says "Please turn camera off and then on again". Looks like it is trying to recover from an internal error. Maybe I can reset the camera's computer? It also is doing a focus back and forth thing like it's zooming back and forth.

OK. This error occurs when force has been applied to the lense. Is there any way to fix it?

SOURCE: PANASONIC - fmc-fs5 When I turn

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

I turn on camera and it keeps saying turn off the camera and turn on again and i do that and it says that over and over again. i have replaced both battery and chip and recharged it .

hi, it looks like you have lens error problem, this also looks like a compact camera where the lens retracts and comes out , the problem occurs if it does not detect home position, there are two ways to go about it , first is to reset the camera or initialize what ever is mentioned in the set up menu, second is with a fully charged battery and the camera on , slap the camera at the base with your palm, doing this a couple may help if the gears in the lens zoom have got dislodged, but if the gears are broken or flex is damaged , will require fixing up by a technician , hope this helps

I am a new user and I can't get my flash to turn on. Please help

There is a button on the back of your camera with a flash icon on it. Just press the button once and it will show the current state of the flash. If a display comes with a round around a flash symbol, that looks like a wave of lightning, then the flash is off. Press again once more and it will go to flash on, and then if you press again it will go to auto flash mode.

try Power Resetting the Camera.
First, please turn OFF the Camera.
Then, remove the battery pack from the Camera.
Then, press and hold the POWER button on the Camera for 30 seconds.
Then, reinsert the battery pack and check whether the issue is resolved.

If the issue still persists then service of the Camera is recommended.

The exact issue can be determined only after physically examining the Camera at the service center by service technician.

unfortunately the camera is non repairable short of dropping it again in hopes it jars the auto focus alignment back into position. this is a one in a million shot , but what have you got to lose.
