System does not recognize the drive - ASUS DVD-E616A DVD Drive

I have not changed anything. A day or two ago, the drives stopped being recognized by the system - the drives don't even show up under "My Computer". So, I don't think the jumper has been changed from what it was.

Did you install any new software? I would recommend a system restore.

I will assume that this is an existing drive so it has probably failed. If it had trouble reading some dvds or seemed slower just before then this would be what has happened. If you don't see any lights at all or they are on solid on the front of the drive then its time to replace it.

If you have been inside the case or have moved it or bumped it is is possible you have a connector that has moved or loosened up on you. It might look like its on but is just not quite making a good connection. You can pull it off and put it back on to fix it.

Replacement cost for the drive could be as low as $30 and is pretty easy to do.

If your external hard drive is not detecting by the system, then maybe you have some problem in port or cable. So try with a different port or system.

Slimtype DVD a Ds8a1p Ata Device Driver NOT FOUND IN MY NOTE BOOK AND NOT HAVING DRIVER IN CD

Go into your BIOS and see if the drive is recognized in there. If its not, then you'll need to turn off the laptop. Take out the drive from the system and then put the drive back into the system. Now go back into the BIOS and see if its recognized in there. If it is still not recognized then the drive is bad and would need to be replaced.

If the drive is recognized then go into windows into the device manager and see if the drive is there. If its not recognized properly then that means you might either have spyware or a virus on the computer. You can also try replacing the drive as well to make sure its not a drive problem.

The board a7v8x-la pavilion t430m DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DISK SATA

Could be any number of problems.

Assuming you are using Windoze......since you did not leave hat information......the possible problems are:

1) Need a "raid" driver installed.

2) Hard drive is bad or unreadable

3) Your system BIOS needs to be updated.

4) faulty or defective SATA cable

5) Faulty Power supply or faulty power connection.

Take the drive out of the current computer and see if it is recognized by any other computer. If it is recognized, then the drive is good. If it is not recognized, try another SATA cable. If it still isn't recognized, then the problem lies with the hard drive.

If the drive is good, then the problem lies with Windoze or your system bios. You did not mention whether or not it was internal or external, that does make a difference.

Problem with recognizing 2nd hard drive in Compaq EVO D510

you need to initialize the newly added drive in disk management, then format the drive once disk management assigns a drive letter.

CONTROL PANEL, ADMIINSTRATIVE TOOLS, COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, DISK MANAGEMENT

There you should be able to see the 2nd drive, Right click and INITALISE it, once it is initialized, it will be assigned a drive letter and you can format the drive
