Question about FrancisFrancis! X1 - Stainless Steel Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Francis Francis X3 voltage

I bought an X3 in Japan, and used it there. The plate that the Japanese distributor has bolted to the back says it is 110V. However, the plastic inlet with metal prongs plug for the electricity cable says 250VAC, and the manual says :
VOLTAGE: 220/230 V (110/120 V US - 110 V J)
This confuses me ... Does anyone know if the machine's transformer is capable of handling 110-240V, or if machines made for different regions have different transformers?
What are my options if I need to step-down the voltage (I now live in Australia)? I don't really want to have to buy a expensive 1000W transformer.

Easiest way to tell is to open the machine and look at the pump or other electrical parts they will have a voltage rating stamped on them.

SOURCE: Francis Francis X3 voltage

hello. The electrical power used in most of Japan is very similar to that of the USA. The difference is that Japan uses 100 volts as opposed to our 110. Therefore, most electrical appliances, blow dryers, etc will work equally well in Japan and in the USA.

Since you are in Australia now, use the same adapter for your expresso machine as you use for other small appliances and you should be fine.

To start with you should indicate in your question the brand and model of the japanese car so might help you find manual on Internet.
Anyway, best resourse should be ask for English language manual where you bought your car.
Even if it's a used car, usually they have easy access to get those manuals.

I have a Francis Francis X3 machine and would like the attachment to use ground coffee as at the moment I can only use pods.

If you have an X3 Trio you are out of luck.
If you have the older model, you can buy 'ground coffee conversion kits' or you can use a ground coffee portafilter from an Ascaso Dream/Arc etc.
