Question about i-mate JAM Pocket PC

1 Answer

Reception / signal keeps cutting in and out

The problem I have with the i-mate jam is that the antenna signal keeps on cutting off. Sometimes even when I am on the phone to somebody it just looses the signal. Any suggestions? Thank you

Hi there,
You have to insert an active sim in your I-mate Jam, when there is no sim or if you have inserted a blocked sim in the phone it will show you Exclamation mark on the signal

Video calls

Video calls are normally made when both the caller and called users are covered by 3G networks; The i-mate JAM is not 3G enabled, so you are out of luck here. Nevertheless, there are some applications around, like Camfrog and VZOChat, which run on Windows Mobile, and provide video chats through Voip. I find them to be somewhat buggy, though. Besides, they will consume your data plan, and, in your specific case, the JAM seems to even lack a front camera, for what I don't see much point in keeping turning your device around, for both allowing you to see the person you are talking to, and he/she seeing you "at the same time". Anyway, give them a try, if you really want.
Cheers! Carlos

you may be in an area where reception is low. even though you may have had it for a while it can still go signal crazy because of the area you're trying to use it in.

Does't connect to network - search Network

It sounds like you may have a poor 3G reception in your area. Even though other O2 phones are working better they may be running on the 2G masts in your area.
Try in setting/network menu turning off 3G reception, that way the device will only look for 2G masts. Your handset will give priority to 3G masts where available and sometimes will hold onto the weakest signal making poor call quality, and or dropping connection.
Advantages to using 2G only = better standby and talk time / better reception where 3G is poor.
Disadvantages = Slower web browsing / no video calls.

WEP / WPA will only apply if you are connecting using WI FI and have nothing to do with your mobile network connection.
Hope that helps?

Unlocked i-Mate k-Jam Activation

Unfortunately, due to network configurations, the i-mate k-jam will not work with Verizon Wireless. Accepted networks are those which use GSM systems. These include Suncom, AT&T / Cingular, US Cellular, and T-Mobile. There is no need to have any additional programs installed on the device in order to work with a network, however each network has specific device settings in order to use the internet feature.
