You just want to change the drive letter from something to E:?

Right click on my computer or computer which you will find from either your desktop or from start menu, select manage, on the manage windown, on the left side click on disk management.

find the CD ROM drive, right click, change path.
the xp was reinstalled on my Emachine and the cpu - 61b48c2.jpg

Select the Letter from the list, then click on change.

now from the list you can assing a new drive letter, the E: if you wish and if it is available, if something else is using E: then that something else will need to be moved from e: to something else first.

Cant get emachine to go past recovery management

LOL, Vista or Windows 7??

Check Disk UtilityTo run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command. If check disk does not solve the problem you might have to reinstall your operating system.

Problem with computer

Hi. I'm Azrul from Malaysia. Your windows installation might be corrupted and the system files might have been modified by a virus. Here is a possible solution for you:

Insert your Windows XP Setup disk in the CD rom drive. Set your boot priority to the cd rom. Wait for the option to repair your Windows XP installation. Do not format or reinstall. Just repair.
