I shoudl have clarified that neither the fridge nor freezer is getting cool air. Also, the compressor kicks in and buzzes for a few seconds every 5 or 10 minutes and rhw refrigerator light dims abit. do you think it is a start relay or overload relay. if so how do you get to that part. i have taken off the white shroud in the freezer and can see the fan and some wires and cooling coils.

Thanks for the info. but where is the start/cap/overload relay assmebly located on the jenn air. Do I need to go to the back of the refrig or can I replace it from the front on the freezer side. Basically, how do I get to it. Please advise and I think that we will be done here. dz

Please remember, I'm attempting to diagnose you appliance without being there and with very little information.
Your fresh food section is cooled by air from your freezer. The inside fan pulls air from your freezer into your fresh food section. If the fresh food section is warming, check the inside back panel of your freezer. See if there is ice or frost built up on it. If so, you have a problem with the defrost heaters not working. This will cause both your fresh food section and freezer to gradually get warmer. The freezer should be between -10 and 0 degrees. Also the ice maker will stop making ice when your freezer gets above 5 or 10 degrees.
If you do have frost or ice on the inside back panel, you can remove the panel. Take a blow dryer and defrost the ice. Replace the panel. The fridge will work ok for about 3 days. This will give you time to get the part or someone out to repair it for you. That way you will not loose any food. Once you have it defrosted, you can check the heater with an ohm meter, if you have continuity it's good. If good, you will need to replace your defrost assy. located inside your fresh food section behind the piece that have the lights in it. This piece just plugs in.
Please rate solution.

That sounds just like the start cap. and overload. You can replace them with what is on it. I found it for $61.00 on parts select. I change them out with Supco 3 in 1's. They kick the compressor harder and I have never had one go out. The compressor gets harder to start over a period of time and because they get harder to start they will put the factory parts out. The 3 in 1 is a lot stronger and can take it. Click on this http://www.appliancepartsonline.net/inde... it will take you straight to the order page. It cost $21.95. It's very easy to put on and the instructions are on the pack. It's 10 times better than the factory and it's cheaper.

    Please rate solutiion

I'm sorry, you asked how to get to it. It's plugs onto the compressor. It's the first thing that attaches to it. You will just pull it off to replace it. If you use the Supco 3 in 1. The 3 in1 has two black wires that will tie into the two wires going to the parts you take off. It even comes with the wire nuts. Then the 3 in1 will have 3 more wires. 1 black, 1 red , 1 white. The package will tell you which pin on the compressor each goes on, it's easy. You will not have to worry about it going out again.

I just found one of the Supco 3 in 1's on Ebay. Buy it for $9.95 + $4.95 shipping. RCO410 is the part number. Good luck

you will have to access it from the back. It's at the very bottom behind the panel. Good luck.

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

The refrigerator is not blowing cold air but the fan is working

probably a defrost problem check that the evap coil is not iced up.
possible causes are the heater under the evap coil the defrost board/timer or the defrost thermostat, if you unplug the unit for 24 hrs and let it defros completely and then plug it back in and it works fine for a week or so then you get the same problem, then it is a defrost problem check all three possibilities.

My Jenn-Air frig, model JCD2389G,isn't cooling. It's less than 7 years old. Freezer seems fine. Frig is set at coolest and still is only 55 degrees. Cleaned back of frig, what else do I check? thank you,...

Check the fan located in the freezer compartment.

This fan blows the cold air from the freezer into the fridge and is about 40 dollars for the part. Simple to fix too.

No cold air coming into the fridg

iF YOUR REFRIGERATOR SETTING IS HIGH, YOU NEED TO LOWER THE SETTING IN ORDER TO GET IT COLDER.
If you still have no air flow, there is a fan that blows cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator. The motor could be burned out.

Fridge not keeping food cold.

When you open door to freezer do you hear a fan inside that compartment blowing? If you don't the fan motor is shot and will need to be replaced.
