Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an HP pavilion 552w desktop two gigs of ram Xp pro. When I install Move Networks Media player it plays with the video green and purple, vertical lines snowy and distorted. The audio sounds fine. The same player works fine on my laptop so it's not anything with my Internet connection. Other media players installed play fine on this PC also, just the Move Media Player. I have uninstalled it reinsalled it, and went through some of the troubleshooting from their web site, still the same thing. Dose anyone have any ideas??

Just download FFDSHOW and VLC MEDIA PLAYER.
Its extremely rare withthis combination, to find a movie file that wouldn't play, and if itdoesn't play with these two, its probably a fake one.

get ffdshow here, its the first link http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm

more info about ffdshow - http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

Vlc media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

After you got these two installed, you should be albe to play most if not all of the movies out there.

Hopefully the movie will play properly after having these two installed, use the vlc media player to view the video if possible.

On the FFDSHow install, just unzip the zip file, then run the setup, click next next next next next, thats it, should work.

You may have to many processes operating at once. Your machine has some age on it , the specs are minimal at best. Try to disable as many running programs as you can. Download freeware CCLEANER at: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/. This program will clean the junk from your system. In the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, disable ALL unnessary startup programs. Open the Task Manager , what is using all your resourses? Is the CPU and Memory maxed out? Try another Media player. Here are so basic tips for XP speedup: http://www.wikihow.com/Speed-up-a-Windows-XP-Computer If you need a good Malware program use freeware MALWAREBYTES at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install, UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a Full Scan, Delete all results, Reboot. You can find other freeware Media Players on FILEHIPPO or MAJORGEEKS.

I have an HP Pavilion a335w computer. It's running a P4 2.5GHz processor (Northwood A80532) 512 L2 with a 100MHz FSB. It has a TriGem Glendale motherboard, PGA478 socket, and it's maxed at 1MB RAM. How...

I have a Compaq that came with this board and a celeron 1.8 or 2.0 I believe. The fastest P4 that will run is a Intel Northwood 2.8 Ghtz 400 FSB nothing ELSE! Northwood 2.8 is the fastest 400 FSB, the boards chipset won't run anything faster than 400 FSB. Mine is running, Win 7 the Northwood P4 2.8 with 2 gigs ram, 160 gig HD and a 256 video card for over 5 years (minus win 7, had XP before with no issues. Good for light gaming, web surfing and MS office! Add a Zotac 512 MB PCI or Sparkle Video card and you can handle most more medium gaiming out today!

HP Pavilion laptop freezes daily and i force manual shutdown

It sound's like there could be a compatibility problem, maybe corrupt file's, or missing start up file's, have you tried doing a window's update, or doing a disc check on the hard drive, go to my computer right click the drive then go to propertie's, click on tool's then click check now for drive error's. if that do'es not work you may need to reformat back to the original xp os.

Stalling on streaming video

"Streaming" refers to playing something as it is coming from the internet. If your computer is pausing while streaming then it means you are not downloading fast enough. You can simply download the entire file before playing it if that is happening.

If you are NOT streaming, but simply playing a video and you are getting these pauses the advice you have been given is good, stop any other unneeded programs that are running, upgrade your processor, video card, or RAM. Depending on what video card you have now that would probably help the most but put in two GB of RAM if your motherboard will support it.
