Question about Intuit QuickBooks Pro 2007 Full Version (299116)

1 Answer

QB Pro 07 - I entered an amount due in the Vendors Bills area some weeks back. The bill was &71.45. I paid the bill today and paid $77.45 ($6.00 more than the amount of the original bill due to there having been a service charge added) My challenge is that when I run a standard Profit & Loss report (Cash Basis) for the current month, the payment just made shows but not at the amount I paid but for what the original amount of the bill was - so my P&L numbers are not valid in that the $6.00 is not being added to the amount the P&L shows as having been paid today. Got any ideas as to why? or what I can do to correct the discrepancy? Thanks.

I would enter a bill for the $6.00. When you paid the original bill and added $6.00, QB simply thought you were overpaying and is probably carrying a $6 credit as a prepay.

Why are our statements late every month but the bill must be paid

That's the question of the month. They can send when they want and can also tell you it's due on receipt. So, the only option you have is that the postage / email date is later than the due date - then you can prove they didn't send on time

Is the verizon sprint refunds true

Yes, but don't expect thousands or even hundreds of dollars in refunds. Here is a quick explanation. BTW, you only have until 12/31/2015 to enter your claim if you are in the group that qualifies.

Verizon and Sprint customers have less than a week to claim their refunds for unauthorized charges on their bills. The two wireless carriers settled with the FTC after allowing third-party companies to charge customers for "premium" text messages without their prior consent -- and allegedly burying them in bills. The activity has come to be known as "cramming."
As a result of the settlements, both companies are now required to get customer approval before charging for third-party messages.
Current and former subscribers who had paid for unauthorized texts since July 1, 2010 can file a request no later than December 31, 2015 to get a refund. Verizon and Sprint both have online claim forms.
The work may not be worth the effort, which is one of the problems with these kinds of settlements.
Verizon (VZA) says refund amounts may be lower than expected depending on the total number of claims filed. The company also says it may not send out refunds if the total amount due is $3.00 or less.

How can i program the counter to count bills totaling one hundred...for example one hundred ones and restarts

The Batch button allows you to count bills in batches from 1 - 999. For example, if you want to sort into piles of 100 bills, the machine will count 100 bills, then stops. Once you remove those 100 bills, it will continue to count the next batch of 100 bills, then stops again. The machine is preset to common counting mode, To count bills in batches, press BATCH. Batching is preset to 100 bills. To change batch amount, press C to clear, and use the keypad to enter a batch number between 1 and 999. Press SET to save the setting.

Paying Bills

This problem is miscategorized as an operating system query. Intuit QuickBooks or Quicken are applications. QuickBook Pro allows you much more "creativity" and customization than Quicken which is designed for a personal accounting system. Therein I believe is the source of your frustration. Please repost if I am getting warm, lol. Steve Medley in pro per:)

Accounts messed up

In my experience, if accounts payable shows them paid, then I would just delete the bill. The bills are just a bill. Once the payable shows them paid, then you would want to get the bills off the balance sheet. The accounts payable will show up on the P&L. I would try 1 transaction first and make sure everything is where it needs to be, and then go forward from there. I would discourge you away from creating bogus accounts. They can scew with the P&L.

I hope this helps.

If this helps, please rate me. Patty
