Question about Reddy Heater RLP100 Portable Forced Air Propane Heater with Variable Heat Ouput

1 Answer

My propane construction heater -reddy heater pro100- will only work if I keep the control knob pressed in and hold it there, if I let it up the fuel flow stops and it will not burn but as long as the knob is pushed in it runs.

You need to change the vsafty alve when you push the knob you are lettingv the propain go directly to the burner and bypassing the safty valve...this is not big issue to replace just get the part and you will be easy able to rep[lace when you see it...

I have a small propane reddy heater with an electric ignitor if power is out can i manually light it

Yes, you can. Use either a butane grill lighter or a long stick match. Make sure the control knob is in the "light" position and the wick is in the right position. Light the long stick match or butane grill lighter, press the control knob in and while holding it in, touch the flame of the match or butane grill lighter to the wick and the wick should ignite. Once it ignites, quickly remove the match without knocking the tip off into the heater.

I have a PRO100 Reddy Heater would not stay lit when you release the ignite button. I replaced the thermocouple and it did nothing. What else could be the problem besides the valve?

I had the same problem. Heater was propane with a long hose for movement.

I put the heater on my garage work bench and the thermocouple tested okay.
Tried to restart and it ran like a champ. Reassembled bottom panel, retested great.
When I set it on the floor, it went out! Hmmmm.

Restarted back on the benck. Great. No good on floor....Very cold (28 F) in the garage.

Think the propane might be going liquid in the hose...when heater hose has a "drip loop"
it works fine.

Maybe this is nuts, but it works keeping the heater up a bit on a STABLE surface.

Torpedo heater wont stay lit.

Do you have the serial number or the manufacture date? There are some design changes and I would need to know the year of manufacture to assist accurately. Usually it is a relay or the thermocouple connection that will affect the unit staying lit.

once the heater starts the clicking should stop. the clicking is the high voltage to the spark plug. once you have a fire it should maintain itself. check the control unit.
