Most likely causes are:

Not enough water entering dishwasher (check level after fill... Should be slightly below bottom wash arm)

Water filling but draining during wash cycle. Check toward end of wash cycle but before drain. See if water level is diminished from start of wash cycle.

New 'water saver' dishwashers are notorious for having smaller water jets, and thus easier to stop-up jets. Check the jets on all wash arms to be sure they are cleared of food particles.

Another way to check the wash arms is to manually position them at specific locations, momentarily run the dishwasher for a few seconds, then open the door to inspect the location of the wash arms. Do this three or four times to eliminate the possibility of coincidence.

If the wash arms do not move from the location that you put them, the most likely cause is food particles stopping up the water jets. These jets not only clean the dishes but also the water pressure they generate turn the arms inside the dishwasher to properly distribute water pressure on the dishes.

Sometimes you can dislodge and remove food particles stuck in one of the jets with a toothpick or other small probe. Others require that you remove the arm(s) and get a little more creative. I use compressed air to clear mine, but not everyone has access to compressed air, so use whatever you can to remove the food particles.

Simply dislodging them from the water ports is usually not effective... As soon as water pressure is applied, the particles return to the jets and stop them up again. The real fix in this instance is to completely remove the food particles from the arm if you can.

Hope this help. Good luck.

Dishwasher does not clean dishes. Some soap remains in soap dish. Have tried on the enrgy saver cycle and 1 hour cycle.

Hi jerry1413,

Firstly, make sure you are using powdered soap, and not the 3 in 1 tablets. The 3 in 1 Tablets only release certain parts of itself on certain temperatures, and because all dishwashers aren't alike, they won't have the best of results on all makes & models. Cycles aren't run the same way on every Make, and don't follow the same order either. Trust Me ;-) , stick to Powder.

Furthermore, check the following link for some advice and suggestions on getting your dishwasher to clean properly again:

First idea goto your local home depot they make a product called AFFRESH for front load washing machines and dishwashers run this tablet inside your dishwasher with no dishes on the inside on the hotest setting this usually takes out all build up within any unit next question when you are washing is the the water hot still if not you could be having a problem with your heater message me back with the model number and how the unit is after you use the affresh on your unit sometimes this clears up the problem if not you would have to check around where the chopper is in the center pump to see if you have any food trapped which would be throwing small pieces up onto your dishes by dirty do you mean spotty of have explain exactly what you mean by not getting clean in your own words and if you have any further questions message me back as well and please remember when our chat has concluded in total to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation Thanks again Rick

Can't get rid of the soap...

One buy dishwasher cleaner or run bleach in it. But the reason why is because of hard water the hard water makes the soap stick to everything. And you might be using tomuch soap only use the main side not both and make sure you us jet dry. But the beat thing you can do buy water sofiner and then you can us even less soap and it will clean better and save the life of your dishwasher. Look at the film you can see, now think about the film you can't it's pritty sick

You should try running a load with 4 cups of white vinegar and no soap through the unit. This should help remove some of the soap scum and build-up that has accumulated. Hope it helps _MJ_

Dishwasher only a couple of months old. Ran it

The water may not be hot enough. Increase the temperature of the incoming hot water or try this: put the tab in the open soap cup so it will start to dissolve during the pre-wash. Then it will finish dissolving during the main wash. If the dishes get clean using this method you may not have to increase the water temp.

I am getting a soapy film on the dishes.

It is actually calcium build up and not soap. The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

Dishwasher runs but does not get dishes clean

1.) Confirm that the holes of the spray arms are not blocked with debris.
2.) Run a short cycle with an empty dishwasher and no dishwasher soap. Run the dishwasher until you hear it finish filling with water and begins the wash cycle. Add up to two cups of white vinegar to the water and allow to wash and drain. Feel free to do the same when the dishwasher fills again.
3.) Only use a brand name powder detergent (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) in any dishwasher. Do not use a gel or tablet in any dishwasher. Do not fill the dispenser fully.
Test your dishwasher with a standard load of dirty dishes.
If problems continue, confirm that the heating element is working properly. The heating element is vital to getting clean dishes with modern dishwashers and DW detergent.
Please report back what you find.

Hi again,

Good water pressure and the right soap and still it builds. I have seen this before. It's most likely defective. With a new d/w it's always better to call warranty repair. As soon as you start to take it apart you void the warranty. I suspect they'll end up replacing the unit.

AS ABOVE SUGESTION ...PROBUBLY NOT GETTING ENOUGH WATER. NOT LIKELY THE FAULT OF THE DISHWASHER PROBUBLY SEDIMENT FROM THE WATER PLUGED THE INLET SCREEN OF THE FILL VALVE. MANY TIMES THE MOVING OF A FLEXIBLE PLUMBING LINE BRAKES LOOSE ANY SEDIMENT AND DEPOSIT DURING THE INSTALATION OF A NEW DISHWASHER WHICH IS WHY MOST ADVISE REPACING THIS SMALL FLEXIBLE LINE WHEN INSTALLING A NEW DISHWASHER. YOU WILL HAVE TO DIS ASSEMBLE VALVE TO CLEAN SCREEN ...IF YOU BOUGHT THE PROTECTION AGREEMENT OR HAD SEARS INSTALL IT THEY SHOULD COVER A SERVICE CALL TO CLEAN THE VALVE.
