4 lawn mowers same problem wont start until I prime the by hand. Briggs Stratton 917.387500/ 12AV566n01124987/20043/SDSP2245D Will the same primer bulb fit the above mowers.

If its identical it should work ,if not take the old one to a mower shop,to get correct one and make sure the choke is going right on when the cable is in choke position.

Primer pump lacation

Not all mowers use this feature to start their fuel flowing. Try using choke for 2-3 pulls, and reduce to half-choke if it starts. If all else fails, make sure it's not flooded by opening up the throttle for a few pulls.

Fuel primer

The primer bulb fills the bowl of the carburetor on initial start-up. Most primer bulbs are depressed 4-6 times. Set the choke at half and either pull the starter cord four times. If it doesn't start, re-prime and take the choke off.

I have a Coleman Powermate Maxa 3000 OTV generator that is powered by the Techumseh Enduro Overhead Valve 5.5HP engine. To start the engine take an act of congress. I can't find any "choke" so its like...

I'm working on one right now. Make sure that all the gas in it is FRESH!!!. Then push the red primer bulb about 6 times. It should start. If it does but dies, push the primer as it dies to keep it going. If it does not start, push the primer 6 more times. You are right-there is no choke.

I have a Sears craftsman lawn mower that will not stay running. The model # in the engine is 12h887-2314-E1. Can you give any suggestion?

Your engine parts list can be found here: http://www.briggsandstratton.com/maint_repair/manual_and_more/docsearch.aspx?enginelookfor=12h887-2314-E1

There are 3 different carb variations on this unit.

Primer type
Choke type
Auto-choke type?

On the Primer type with the plunger on the side of the carb the primer bulb gets a pin hole in it that allows air to be drawn through the primer bulb. So the engine will start an then die after priming.

On the Choke type carb debris in the bottom of the float bowl AND bowl nut will cause this.

On the Auto Choke type there is a diaphram under the carb that can get damaged and allow airflow where there should be fuel flow.

I am pretty sure that your mower has the float bowl on it. remove the bowl nut... take some carb cleaner and spray directly up into the hole the bowl nut screws into and clean it. Then also spray around the float needle.

If your still having problems.. just fro grins remove the fuel supply line to the carb and check for fuel flow. If there is little or no flow either the fuel slector is off or the fuel tank outlet has debris covering the tank outlet hole inside the gas tank.

I can't start my powerwasher. Where is the choke?

This Power washer has a 3.75 hp Briggs and Stratton Engine. It does not have a choke but does have a primer bulb. You must depress the primer bulb at least 3 times to start the engine. The primer bulb is on the side of the carb. It can be black or red. If your still unable to locate the primer bulb please provide your ENGINE model number and I will provide you a link to a diagram for the location of the primer bulb.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I don't know how to start the blower (gas powered) and I don't have the owner's manual...any help is appreciated. There's the choke, the primer, and the blow strength gauge

I would push the primer in about 3 times, then pull the choke out, then try and start it. It probably won't start, but it might turn over. Then push the choke in and try starting it again. It should start within the next 2 pulls.
