Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook

My HP DV9000 doesn't stay connected to the internet

It will work for a while then the next thing I know I am off the internet
The wireless indicator is no longer blue it's orange.
I can restart it and it will work fine for a while then it's off again.
Is this a common problem with these laptops. Of course the warranty is
no longer in effect.....

Well it sounds to me like an incompatible driver issue, you may want to check to see if your wireless card driver is up to date with the new windows updates you have installed on your machine. if that isnt the issue your wireless card may need to be replaced which isnt to bad if your machine is still under warrenty, have it sent out pay the shipping there and back and it should come back all fixed

Its possible that the wireless adapter went into power save mode, what you could try is turn the switch off and then on again and see if it works again.

I own a HP DV9000 my wireless quit working

Check the Device Manager to see if the Wireless LAN device is working and enabled. If not reinstall the Wireless LAN driver.
If the Wireless LAN is OK and enabled then sometimes when you bootup the Wireless LAN card doesn't get an IP address from the wireless router. This usually has a red X on the wireless connection icon and sometime you get an error message "Limited or no connection".
To get the router to issue the wireless LAN card with a new IP address, righr click on the Wireless icon and click on Repair.
You can also power down the router wait 15secs and power up the router again then reboot the computer.
If it still doesn't work you could have a faulty wireless card, see it your friendly computer shop can test it for you.

HP DV9000 Wireless Card Not Working

Did the wireless icon from your machine light up? If no, you need to re-install your wi-fi driver. If you have the cds with you, re-install the driver then switched on your wi-fi. If you dnt have the cds, try checking on the HP site and look for the wi-fi driver.

Need help getting wireless laptop connected to internet

1. Go to Start, Control Panel, syetm.hardware, device manager. Under network adapters make sure your wireless is there. Note: there is a recall for HP laptops including the DV9000 because they eractically lose their wireless settings. If this is the case call HP tech support.
2. Assuming your wireless card is listed (not the 1394) and there are no red or yellow check marks we can now go back to control panel, network connections.
3. If wireless connection is not listed then click the task Create a new connection. This brings up Welcome to new connection wizard. At this point you should see a line that says to connect to a wireless network in range . . . If this line is there click this then select your SSID (network name). If this line is not there and you're sure the network switch is on and turned blue then you'll need to call HP.

Wireless doesn't work!?

sure...since the Airport Express runs on DHCP, and your HP may or may not integrate with that standard, you most likely need to adjust your Network Settings for that connection, so your HP is compatible with the AE DHCP settings. Hmmm..let's see..who will be most helpful? www.apple.com no doubt..

got backup for your HP?
