Question about Hitachi 53UDX10B 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Click...pause pause

There's a click as if the TV is turning on...then a few synchronized ticks...then another click and nothing happens.

It functioned this weekend for about 10 seconds then everything went black and it's been this way ever since. We can't get it to turn on.

Re: Click...pause pause

There should be a soldered in fuse in the convergence IC input chain, usually fairly close, if there is an inductor coil in the chain, look for the fuse just upstream of that. Each IC will have a fuse, they look like resistors, but are usually solid color, white, light blue, or light green. Check those for opens.

If you find an open, you can bridge it with a fuse of similar load capability, just to see if the set will power up. If the fuse blows again, look for solder bridges in the IC joints. I know you were careful, but it's really easy to get a bridge, or perhaps overflow the solder to another trace on the board.

In lots of cases, when the IC goes, it takes the fuse with it, and you don't find out until you try to power it up.

My name is Russ. Maybe I could help you, but I need to know model number of your TV (it is located on the sticker at the back of your TV next to serial number of the unit). Also I need to knoe exactly how many times red light is blinking. It does it repeatedly. Foe example: six blinks, pause, another six blinks and so on.

My tv won't turn on it clicks on then a second or

When it shuts down do any lights on the front light up red? If so its in prtective shutdown and you can get a two digit blink code by pressing in the menu and device buttons on the front panel. then counting the number of blink. It should blink a series of blinks and pause for the first digit then blink another series and pause for the second digit . then the process repeats. If a code blinks let me know what they were.

Tv will not click for pic to show, bulb good, just blicks green

This TV has a Service Bulletin on it that indicates you should install a Ballast Kit.
Also replace the Lamp with a Panasonic Lamp / No generic. If you just replace the Lamp only, it will burn out fast without the new Ballast Kit installed first. Call a good TV tech and have him check for this problem first.

Power LED blinks red

it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea

Panasonic rear projection TV 47 in PT 47WX49

i have the same model and this happened to my set 1 day after yours! i am sending it out for repair on monday so i can let u know what was done and what it cost. i found this: from tick-tick-tick or click-click-click but no other action A variety of power supply or startup problems can result in this or similar behavior. Possibilities include: Lack of startup horizontal drive - see the section: Startup problems - nothing happens, click, or tick-tick-tick sound. The main regulator is cycling on overvoltage due to lack of load. Excessive load or faulty power supply cycling on its overcurrent protection circuit. High voltage shutdown, or some other system detecting an out of regulation condition. However, in this case, there should be some indication that the deflection and HV is attempting to come up - momentary whine, static on the screen, etc. A dried up main filter capacitor or other filter capacitor in the low voltage power supply that is producing an out-of-regulation condition until it warms up. A bad filter capacitor on the output of a series regulator may result in excessive voltage and subsequent shutdown. A problem with the microcontroller, relay or its driver, or standby power supply. One possible test would be to vary the line voltage and observe the set's behavior. It may work fine at one extreme (usually low) or the other. This might give clues as to what is wrong.
