Question about Dell Dimension 3100 PC Desktop

I reloaded W/XP and lost all the files. (Bookeeping) it was to repair and somehow wiped everything out. I do have the bookeeping backed up but I did retrieve 85% of the files, but now the monitor won't come on all the files back. Now I can't get the monitor on to finishing backing up the files I did get!!

I NEED HELP RELOADING MY COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS XP

Ok if you are a complete novice like you say it may be a little hard to explain everything on here. Your heading say you need help loading windows xp. While the body says you need help cleaning it out and reloading it. It has been a while since I loaded windows xp on my computer but it came after losing a hard drive. I seems like I just put in the new hard drive and put the windows installation cd and when I started it, it just went through the steps of installation. However if you have a working computer and you want to clean it up, you may want to save some files off your computer before you just wipe it out. You should make a recovery cd, you can go through help menus to do this just type in "recovery cd". You can format your drive, go to programs, accessories, command prompt. If you open that up it looks like the old dos system, if you type in "format c:\" then enter it will wipe everything off of your hard drive. So my suggestion is this: find a friend/ neighbor that is a little computer savvy and ask for some help. It may be as simple as deleting your temporary internet files and cookies to get you running faster, which I think is what you are really after. Now that I've written a book I hope this helps. Please rate my answer so I get points for it.

It just keeps restarting over and over.

Hi !

You operating system is corrupted and needs to either repair or reinstall your operating system.

For repairing the operating system, you need operating system installer CD and when reparing, all the your software installed, document files and hardware drivers will still be there. But if your computer crashed because of virus attacked. It is not advisable to run the repair mode. Here is the link on how to repair the operating system http://www.fixya.com/support/t7687003-computer_suddenly_crashes_fails_boot.

For reinstalling the operating system, all the software will be wipe out including your hardware drivers and document files will be losted. So be sure you have all the hardware drivers of your computer like chipset driver, LAN driver, VGA driver, Sound driver and others. Here is the link of how to reinstall your Windows XP operating system http://www.fixya.com/support/r7410371-reinstall_windows_xp_or_installing_clean. For other like vista and windows 7, it is somehow the same procedure.

I hope it helps you and thank you for using FixYa !

Well u already lost everything because u told it not to back up ur files. So u lose nothing by starting all over again. Nobody here knows your password and there is no magical password hacker out there. Reload ur Win7 cd again and format the drive with a fresh copy. This will wipe out any and all on the hard drive including passwords.

BACKUP,BACKUP,BACKUP....all data was probably lost when it crashed...as far as your Norton, contact them...they will have your subsciption on file and let you download...if you have the Norton disk, and hopefully you have the serial #, just reload and enter this long number when it asks you for it

What do i do

***WARNING*** **This should wipe out everything on your player.**

If the file system is corrupted you have most likely already lost your files already. I would try to reset the player (use a pin to gently press the Reset button on the rear of
the player) and try again. If this works you should be able to reload your files back onto it.
If you need the manual for this unit it can be found here.

Issue: Computer sluggish, then files missing

Problems on the main board could be causing these troubles since it's common to everything else. You might also have memory problems. You could have a bad hard drive, which would account for lost or corrupted files and very long read times while Windows tries to get good data. Because of its connection to the system board, hard drive troubles can show up as other symptoms as well. My first suggestion would be to try another hard drive, then memory.
