Files appear too large on Acer monitor

Files - e.g. web pages, excel - appear too large on my new Acer X203H monitor. I don't know how to change the display size without affecting the appearance of files on my computer screen. Any suggestions? thanks

I was able to make the font smaller on the webpage using the suggestion above, but it still appears slightly out of focus. I tried changing the Focus setting in the Acer monitor menu, but it didn't appear to make a difference. thanks

I have the monitor resolution as high as I can set it (1024x768. I also changed the refresh rate to 75htz, but the monitor display is still fuzzy. Can you tell me how to check the graphic card drivers and update them if needed? thanks!!

Thanks for your detailed instructions. As you suggested, I tried updating the driver, but I received a message that the driver is the most current for the software I have installed. The driver date is 2/17/03. My computer is old - probably from 2003. Is there any way to get a new monitor to work on an old computer, or do I need to get a new computer? thanks for all your help!

If you just want to change the size of the font of the web pages you are visiting...all you have to do is hold down the CTRL key while tapping the + or the - key the will increase and decrease the font size.

To check the resolution just right click in an empty area of the desktop and scroll down to properties....you can play around with the resolution there....don't worry, you get 15 seconds to decide if you like the setting before it reverts back to the previous setting.

Play around with the different resolution settings....your particular monitor may like a high resolution, if you pick something that it doesn't agree with it will look out of focus or fuzzy. Some monitors are very picky about the resolution and check the refresh rate also. 60htz is usually good but some monitors like it faster, lets say up around 75htz. Check on the graphics card drivers too, you may need a new driver since youv'e gotten a newer monitor. Good luck

If you can only get 1024 X 768 out of the card then that is your problem. Either your card has issues or you need to seriously update that driver. Go to the control panel > system > Hardware > Device manager > look down the list and find your display adapter. Double click on display peoperties and your adapter will be named there. right click and scroll to properties. Click the driver tab and look at the driver info. Now, make sure your computer in online and click on update driver. Windows will ask if it can connect to windows update to look for the driver there. Click yes and let it do its thing. If it finds a better driver it will install it and then ask you to reboot the pc. When the pc reboots, go back into your display properties like you did before and see what resolutions you get now. If you need firther assistance, give me a squak.

The best bet would be to get a new video card, if you have an empty PCI slot on the motherboard...it is white in color...also called an expansion slot, then you can put an inexpensive video card in that would be a great update for your system. To change the video card, load the cards driver software first, then power down the computer and take the old card out. If the old card is actually integrated on the motherboard then don't worry about that step. Now remove one of the small cover plates on the motherboard that corresponds with an open white PCI slot. Set the card on the open slot and work the card into it while keeping the output area free to to move into position where the plate was removed. Once you have the card secured in the slot, button up the case and reconnect your video cord to the new output on your card. Start the computer and let windows find the appropriate driver. Once it has loaded up, change your resolution to suit you. Now if you think this is too much to try and pull off, you can go get the card, just make sure it is PCI interface. Most retailers such as Best Buy and Staples will do the job for around 35-50 bucks and they will show you along the way if they can get right to it. Good luck, no need to change out computers unless that is what you want. Component upgrades are cheaper.

Power only comes on for about 2 seconds

Please ensure your input settings are set to the correct input cable used (i.e. VGA, DVI, etc). You will be able to change settings right on the monitor under the "menu" key.

Good Luck,

Can't change resolution on an acer x203h video monitor

The resolution is changed on the PC and not the monitor. Right click on the desktop and select Properties->Settings->Screen Resolution. Here you will get a slider showing Minimum to Maximum resolution that your monitor is capable of taking. Start sliding the indicator one notch at a time and click OK when satisfied. You will be given an opportunity to revert back to the original one should you want to. Go ahead and change to a more likeable one.

I cant download the driver for the Acer X203H Monitor without Windows Vista... I dont have Vista

I see from the Acer web site what you are saying is true.....you might try just setting it up as plug and play monitor. Your current operating system should be able to assign a generic driver so it will function....just a thought.

The fact that other devices can go higher than the resolution provided by the panasonic dvd player is a strong indication that this is not a screen issue but one with your dvd player and you should consult the manual or web site for your particular model to find out what its limitations are

All pictures are stretched as well as web pages can't adjust

Make sure to use the native resolution of your screen in your video settings (desktop-properties-), I believe it is 1600 x 900. Then it should look ok.
