Same Problem

Apr 15, 2009

-   I have a Presario V2000.

After not using for about 1 week I turned it on so I could clean it from viruses.

Got the battery alert and then it shutdown meanwhile I was pluging the cord in (Targus AC cord with

blue light).

When I connected the AC to the power (not connected yet to the laptop) it "turned on" and still today

shows a blue light. But once I plug it to the laptop the blue light disappears after 3-5 seconds!

Not at the beginning nor the end of this process the laptop will turn on if I press the power button

for 'x' seconds. If I plug the cord, the computer doesn't show any "power light" and then the blue

light from the Targus AC fades off.

I tried removing the battery and unpluging everything. So again I got the blue light with no problems

(before connecting it to the laptop) and then connected to the laptop without the battery. Same thing

happened. The blue light fades off and no power is present.

I tried to put back the battery, unplugh everything, but same result.

The V2000 seems to be dead and can't find why the AC adaptor dies when I connect it to the laptop.

I was thinking it could be an AC power problem, but when I plug it to the power it lights on.

Any helpful ideas?

Many thanks!

-   Before I shut down my V2000 I had a critical battery alert. My AC works just fine. My battery may be dead but should have enough juice to restart. Powere management page flashed battery then AC over and over as if it was goin in and out from the ac power supply. Now the it will not power up at all.-   livindel

Take the battery out. Unplug the charger from the computer. Press the On button for 30 seconds. Then plug the charger in. If it works, then put the battery back in and you're in business again.

The controller gets locked up sometimes, you need to clear it out and let it reboot like that....
