There should be a light on the board when you plug it in. something's wrong though if it wont turn on. if the water damage is recent, you could dip it in isopropyl alcohol and then dry it, which might fix some of the shorts, but most likely it's dead.

HP pavilion HP Pavilion 15-p087sa laptop is not powering on and making ticking noise.

Hello
It's might be the fan that's making the noise or can be something worse then that, I would recommend ask them for repair if it is still under warranty.

what is the ADAPTeR, we cant guess them. ever.

aH the AC power pack is the ADAPTER?

i bet the battery goes dead with no adapter right
so the acid test is this
no battery run on the adapter
if that fails, the adapte is wrong or dead. or weak
1: wrong size 65w or 100w. less never.
2: wrong voltage ,19vdc is correct for HP. not 12,
3: the jack on the mobo for 19v is cracked ,common on some

i never buy PC with this part , I buy Elitebooks that cure that horror.
what happens is you flex cable.
and the jack flexes and then the solder joint crack
all do, its one bad horror. (mine uses a anti crack flex cable inside)

Left computer running with charger connected. Screen went blank and light showing power connected was no longer lit. New charger did not solve it. New battery (with some charge) worked. Still no charge so...

If your charger is working properly and the laptop is as well, then the laptop should work without a battery in it at all. If your new battery worked and laptop worked with it until the battery died, then the charger or charge port is damaged.

If it does not work with charger plugged in without a battery, then your charger(s) or the laptop charge port itself may be damage or broken. Or worse, the laptop may be dead.

If the laptop does nothing even with a good battery with charge (no fans, no boot, nothing on-screen, no noises) you're laptop could be dead; likely a burned motherboard or processor. It may have overheated or something along those lines.

My laptop HP Pavillion ZV6000, battery started decreasing and wouldn't charge when the ac adapter was connected. I purchased another ac adapter thinking that was my problem. It didn't work. Now I have...

As others have said, the most common fault with the ZV series is the power socket. However, you mentioned the Lightning Bolt. This indicates that the battery is being charged and it should go out as soon as the battery is fully charged.

If the Lightning Bolt flashes on and off regularly, especially when the power cable is moved, then the socket is at fault and needs replacing.

You can check to see if the battery is receiving a charge by doing the following

1. Right Click the Desktop
2. Click Properties
3. Click the Screen Saver tab
4. Click the Power button
5. Click the Power Meter tab

This will tell you the computer's current power source and whether the battery is charging.

I have replaced several of these sockets on ZV5000s and I'm sure the 6000 will be similar. I would not recommend this job for anyone without technical knowledge, despite some of the websites that say you can do it yourself. You will need to strip the entire laptop down and all but remove the motherboard before the socket can be replaced.

Hope this helps

Vertical white lines appear on screen and music will play, beeping and a "chopper" noise have also occured. Replaced motherboard in Dec 08.

To isolate the issue.please connect the notebook to external monitor with the help of VGA port.(Blue PORT) on the notebook.if it good with out any lines.you need to fix the LCD screen of the Notebook.
