A YouTube video shows the procedure using a Husqvarna 350 here:
1. Look at the IPL it may require special tools.
2. A length of starter cord or nylon rope may be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and be cut when the piston rises.
3. It is probably a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it).
Let us know how it worked for you. GL

How do I remove the centrifugal clutch so I can access to broken recoil on a Remington rm2599 gas pole saw

A lawnmower flywheel puller is the cheapest and easiest way to get it off, but if for some reason it doesn't fit, a two or three prong puller is the best way to remove the clutch. You can usually borrow one at your local chain auto parts store. The lawnmower puller threads into the bolt hole and the nut on the shaft is tightened until the clutch pops loose. I personally prefer this method since there is no chance of distorting the clutch housing.

How many bolt holes are in the flywheel? Mostly 3 holes plus the one in the centre.I used a steering wheel puller and I removed the centre nut to the end of the threads then attached the puller the flywheel. Then proceeded to tighten the puller slowly till the flywheel was loose. Then I removed the puller also removed the centre nut and proceeded to remove the flywheel.Hope this helps.I'm not much at explaining on computer but in person I show you faster. (1) BUT always remember to make the puller is square or level with the flywheel. So that way all 3 bolts are pulling the same time.(2) PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS!!!!...

My 1999 Aprilia RSV Mille starter turns (can here it whirring) but does not crank the engine

The starter clutch is failed. The starter clutch is located on the back of the flywheel, so you'll have to remove the flywheel. The flywheel is difficult to remove and sometimes requires heat (torch) along with a three bolt type puller. Once the flywheel is off, the repair is fairly straight forward. Just remove the old clutch, paying attention to the direction of the rollers, and install the new one. The gear on the flywheel should also be replaced to insure good performance of the new clutch and starting system.

I have a 1995 vs800 inturder it will not turn over i have replaced the battery and the cables its in neutral the kill switch in in the run posistion i have the clutch in i turn the key on hit the start...

The solenoid is easy to replace. The one-way clutch is underneath the generator cover on the right side of the motor. Take off the right engine cover, be careful the stator is inside it. To get to the one-way clutch you will need to pull the flywheel you may need and air wrench and a flywheel puller specific to your bike. The one way clutch is bolted to the back side of the flywheel. The clutch locks in one direction to a large sprocket. When you replace the clutch you will also have to replace the sprocket. The clutch runs up against a smooth round surface on the gear, If the smooth surface becomes chattered the one-way clutch will not grab it and turn over the motor. You will need a right cover gasket , a puller, a one way clutch, and the large starter gear that plugs into the one-way clutch.

How to remove the starter clutch on a 2003 yamaha

It is on the back side of the flywheel for the magneto/generator. You will need to remove the left engine side cover then pull the flywheel. It does take a special puller to get the fly wheel off. Once you get the flywheel off, there are 8 allen bolts that hold it to the back side of the flywheel.

Hope this helps. Best of luck to you!

Removal & Installation
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the transaxle.
  4. Gradually loosen the clutch pressure plate bolts, in a crisscross pattern. Support the pressure plate and remove the bolts. Remove the pressure plate and clutch disc.
  5. Inspect the pilot bearing. If it is worn or damaged and does not turn easily by hand, remove it using a puller/slide hammer.
  6. Check the flywheel surface for scoring, cracks or burning and machine or replace, as necessary.
  7. Install a flywheel holder to keep the flywheel from turning. Loosen the flywheel bolts evenly and gradually in a crisscross pattern. Remove the flywheel.
  8. Inspect the clutch release bearing for wear. Replace it if it sticks or does not turn easily.
  9. Inspect the release fork for wear or damage and replace as necessary.

  1. Lubricate the release fork fingers and pivot with molybdenum grease and install in the release fork boot.
  2. Install the clutch release bearing on the release fork.
  3. Install a new pilot bearing in the flywheel, if removed.
  4. Be sure the flywheel mounting surface and the crankshaft or eccentric shaft mounting surfaces are clean. Remove any old sealant from the flywheel bolt hole threads and the flywheel bolts.
  5. Install the flywheel.
  6. Apply sealant to the flywheel bolt threads and install them hand-tight. Install the flywheel holding tool. Tighten the bolts, in a crisscross pattern, to 71–76 ft. lbs. (96–103 Nm).
  7. Apply a small amount of molybdenum grease to the clutch disc splines and install the clutch disc on the flywheel, spring side toward the transaxle. Install a suitable alignment tool in the pilot bearing to position the clutch disc.
  8. Install the clutch pressure plate, aligning the dowel holes with the flywheel dowels.
  9. Install the pressure plate bolts and gradually tighten, in a crisscross pattern to 20 ft. lbs. (26 Nm). Remove the alignment tool.
  10. Install the transaxle.
